Mercedes-Benz Other .Offered here is a standard NATO pattern 404S cargo truck from the German army.Versorgungsnummer 2320-12-124-7638. This vehicle started life equipped with the problematic compressed air system for military trailer towing which has been since removed. It has some rust in the usual places, and the P.O. has introduced some bondo at places. It has not been altered otherwise or“improved†upon as so many other imported victims have over the past 40 years.
Vehicle runs, drives, stops and has a new T&G wood deck as was found on the originals. Wheel and master brake cylinders have been renewed as well as all hoses. A rebuilt motor has been installed and a new exhaust system installed. Carburetor has been rebuilt. Coolant hoses have been replaced.
Top and cargo bed canopy are the heavy vinyl types albeit the drivers top is homespun – functional although not original nor “prettyâ€. Sidecurtains (door top windows) are original canvas and quite clear. Tires could use replacement and those shown in the bed are NOT included with the truck.
Couple of electrical issues remain including horn, wipers and hazard flasher. All other electricals are functional. Tires hold air and are weather checked. Accessories include pair of tire chains, tow pin, narrow passage wands, hatchet bracket, pionier tools (pickaxe and shovel),decontaminator bracket, weapon rack, Owners Operation Manual, dual jerrycanholder (popular), combination jerrycan and tool box, tire chain cases, NATO spec trailer hitch.
