Description:

1979 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

For sale is a beautifully preserved 40 year old 300SD that I have cared for the last 8 years, & put about 8K miles on. It appears that this car has never spent a night on the street, or anywhere away from the west coast, as the person I bought it from was a Mercedes collector. There has been no restoration here! The car is mint...mint... Mint!!!It has about 47K miles to it's name, and is in everyday driver condition. In the last 8 years I have replaced any rubber parts that showed signs of age.. Hoses, belts, flex discs, tires, bushings & anything else that needed replacing. I did some of the work, & my old world mechanic did the jobs that required more expertise than I have! The car runs with plenty of power, shifts & stops perfectly, & travels straight down the road. The A/C(new compressor) & heat(new servo & amplifier) work perfectly. I would trust it to go anywhere! There is one very small ding on the rear passenger door that does not show in a picture. The only non-working item is the right rear passenger window, which I believe has a bent regulator. The window motors in these cars were strong enough to cause this. I have not taken the time to straighten it.The paint, glass & rubber are in near perfect condition, without any cloudiness. The beautiful color combination is my favorite from the Mercedes 1979 color lineup!! This car is in immaculate condition!!!I have the original stock headlights & doors, which are perfect!I have the original stock Becker Mexico radio & amplifier, which before I removed them worked flawlessly!I have included pictures, but have many more. If I don't provide an angle or item you would like to see, please email, as I have many.We are moving soon, and I will not have garage space for such a large car. It is pointless to keep it in storage, so it must go. So if you have been looking for a near perfect W116 diesel, here it is!!! It's even more striking in the flesh than in pictures. I hope it goes to a deserving home.
In summary, this is a 'one of a kind'. It is gorgeous, and it has been my privilege to be it's caretaker!!!
