1985 was the last and best year Mercedes built the gorgeous W123 station wagon. They made them from 1978 until 1985 and only the last 5 years with the turbo version. These cars remind you of a time when things were made to last a lifetime and not just until next years model comes along.My car is an original CA car and it was finished in Taiga Beige ( MB color code 684). This colo, unlike the more common "light ivory, is quite rare and i have only seen one other one like it. The paint is still in great shape and shines like on a much newer car. There are no major dents and only a few rock chips from 34 years of pampered use. The Palomino color MB-Tex interior is very clean as wel, as the many pictures will show. There are no rips or tears in the seats and they are still firm. The carpets are clean and in the back cargo area they have been replaced with the original "german tuft" style carpet Mercedes used back then. After 34 years the color on the back area started to fade and turn pink. So we had them replaced.This 300TD also has the rare option of a 3rd row of seats. This way you can comfortably and legally transport 7 people. My son and his friends always argued who can sit in the rear facing back seat.My wagon has always been garaged and well taken care off. Just recently we had a full service done. All the fluids and filters were changed and the valves were adjusted. The AC was serviced and blows cold. A new hood insulation was installed as well as a new shifter bushing. The Michelin tires have less than 4k miles on them and the brakes were done last year together with air cells for the SLS suspension. We also just replaced the shocks for the back gate. The whole car has been gone through and i would not hesitate to take it across country tomorrow. It always starts up right away, has good power and shifts smoothly through all the gear. You can comfortably cruise with 85mph while still averaging 27 mpg of diesel. This 300TD was always only driven on regular diesel and we never experimented with Bio-diesel .I would prefer to sell this car locally to somebody who could actually come out and see it. But i would also be willing to help with shipping arrangements or and airport pick up for any out of town winning bidders. All shipping fees will have to be paid by them of course.
