1982 380 SEC 145k AND 1985 500 SEC 144k MERCEDES
1982 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series
This auction is for a package of TWO Mercedes SECs.The first car is a 1982 Mercedes 380SEC and the second is a 1985 Mercedes 500SEC.
The 1982 SEC (red, with a tan interior) has 145,000 miles and runs well. The engine starts easily and the driving experience is quite pleasant. The transmission shifts smoothly and there are no strange noises from the drivetrain. I believe the car would benefit from new strut bushings but other than that the suspension is in good condition with some squeaking in the rear bushings .
The paint on the car is fairly recent and it looks great. The interior door panels are nice except the right rear has a little sun damage at the top (see pictures). The wood on the dash is very nice and the top of the dash has a Coverlay. The headliner is in good condition as well. The seats really could use new upholstery due to the typical heat here in Georgia causing sun damage to the interiors . The tires are new and have very few miles on them.
Recent mechanical work:
New fuel pump
New fuel filter
New fan clutch
Oil and filter change
The glass is in good condition and all the windows go up and down properly.
The door lock system works as it should as do the wipers and the other ancillaries.
The A/C does not currently work, but may just need to be charged. The heater works great.
1985 500 sec (gold, with tan interior) has 144,000 miles and, though the engine has a slight miss, it runs and drives well and the transmission shifts properly. All cylinders pressure test well at a respectable 160-170 PSI. Suspecting the fuel system (ignition checks out fine), since the car had sat idle for a number of months, I rebuilt the fuel distributor (now tests at the proper 70 PSI and holds at 40 PSI), drained fuel tank and replenished with fresh gasoline, replaced fuel filter and changed the oil and filter. I also added Seafoam injector cleaner to the fuel to help clean out the injectors. I did do a cylinder pressure test and all cylinders are a respectable 160-170 PSI. The only noise this car makes is a slight whine from the power steering pump, which will likely need to be replaced. The interior is in the same condition as the red car and would benefit from new seat upholstery or seat covers. While the glass is all in good condition with the exception of the front glass (cracked). All windows work with the exception of the right front.
I purchased these cars last year to restore and keep me busy in my retirement but my wife and I have decided to spend more time traveling in our camper and seeing all our great country has to offer while we can.
Both cars have clear Georgia titles and will come with a Bill of sale. Please bid only if you have the intent to buy. These cars are sold in as is condition with no warranties implied.Though I have described these cars the best I can I know you may have some questions, so feel free to email me with them. I will be glad to answer as quickly as I can.
