We have been a Houston mechanical and restoration shop specializing in Mercedes Benz Pagoda roadsters for over 35 years. We are pleased to offer this outstanding example from our inventory for the discerning collector.
This car was sold new by Stahl Motors of Monterey, alifornia on January 31, 970 to Dr. Walter Farr of Salinas, alifornia. The car remained in California until 2003 when it was relocated to North Carolina. It was owned continuously by the Farr family until 2013, hen we purchased it as an excellent restoration project. Its service history is documented in the original Mercedes-Benz service book, nd we have numerous maintenance receipts on file.
This automobile is finished in its factory original color of white DB 050 G over black #131 MB Tex in keeping with the data card. The car has been fully stripped and repainted, esulting in a beautiful finish displaying a deep shine and luster. The body panels, loors and trunk floor are original and in pristine, ust-free condition. Both headlight body notches are present, s are the original spot welds inside the lower fenders in the engine compartment. All chrome has been refinished or replaced. The correct black German canvas soft top is brand new. The matching hardtop and the trim are intact and show signs of light use only. The engine and transmission are correct and numbers matching, s are the three digit stampings on the hood and soft top lid.
The interior was retrimmed in 2003 by Sports Leicht Restoration using factory correct materials and remains in very good condition, howing nominal patina from light use. The wood and trim are in good, riginal condition. A period-correct Frigiking under-dash air conditioning unit was sourced, estored, nd installed including a hidden modern blower to significantly increase airflow into the cabin. The compressor is a new, odern rotary model, nd the unit blows cold. The gauges, ights, adio, nd other interior components work as intended and are in excellent cosmetic condition.
The car is in outstanding mechanical condition. The engine was removed during the repaint, nd completely overhauled and detailed. It starts immediately with no smoke on startup or during acceleration. It pulls strong and has excellent power. The original 4 speed manual transmission has been completely overhauled, ncluding all new synchronizers, nd shifts precisely with no gear grinding or clutch slippage. The suspension was overhauled, nd is tight, recise, nd free of any noises. The steering and brakes were restored, re excellent and free of any play or fading. All rubber seals and gaskets have been replaced. All of the electrical components in the car function like new. The stock 3.92 ratio rear axle was replaced with a restored 3.27 rear axle, llowing for smoother and more comfortable cruising.
The original Mercedes-Benz owner’s manual, ervice book, arranty book, ealer book, nd parts catalog are all present and included with the sale of this car. Other equipment includes the original glove box pouch, ey, ack, pare tire, nd factory tool kit complete with Mercedes-Benz tools, nd the original California blue license plate.
