1982 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series 240 D

It's time to sell Bernard....My 1982 Mercedes 240D (W123)
Anyone that knows about these cars knows that these diesel engines will run forever and this one is just getting broken in at 150K miles.
I've only owned the car since late June but have been working on it since then to make it a daily driver. Unfortunately life has gotten in the way I would LOVE to keep it but I need to let it go. I purchased it from an estate in Texas where it spent it's life. It has zero rust and overall is in GREAT shape for the age.
THE INTERIOR:Is outstanding.
  • The front seats and armrest are flawless and the carpets throughout are excellent.
  • The rear seat had a very small section less than a square inch that i repaired, other than that it is perfect as well.
  • All of the wood is there except for one piece that I am currently hunting for.
  • The trunk has zero rust - I recently repainted it and replaced the spare wheel wood decking as it was sagging when I got it.
  • The vacuum locks are not working (there is a leak in one of the lines but the vacuum system itself is strong.)
  • The headliner is in excellent shape but does sag a little, not enough to be an issue but could be addressed.
  • I've replaced all 4 door strikers and the drivers door mechanism and the doors close like new.

THE EXTERIOR::
  • Its a 36 year old car and needs a paint job eventually. As you can see in the pictures there are plenty of little issues but nothing major. A piece of the trim on the passenger side bumper quarter panel is coming off - I have a new replacement piece and hardware to attach it. I was keeping it for after I painted it.
  • The 4 tires have less than 200 miles on them, the full size spare needs to be replaced but is included (along with an extra hub cap for it)
  • The windshield was replaced less than 25 miles ago

THE ELECTRICAL:
  • Heater will melt your face once it warms up, a/c is working as well.
  • With the exception of the fuel gauge, cruise control and the radio/antenna, all of the internal lights, fans, switches, etc. work as designed.
  • The fuel gauge sensor in the tank needs to be cleaned. I've never messed with the cruise control as it was a low priority.
  • The radio and antenna - the radio appears to work but the antenna was not raising or lowering as it was guncked up. I have a new aftermarket antenna that I will include in the purchase.

THE MOTOR/TRANSMISSION:Runs awesome!!
  • It fires up on the first stroke every time, shifts as it should and drives like you are floating on a cloud.
  • It does have a small brake line leak that I haven't had time to address yet
  • It could use someone who wants to play with the vacuum system as noted in the interior section with the locks. I've got the vacuum just routed to the shut-off and transmission currently.
  • I had a professional mechanic go over it when I first purchased it less than 5 months ago

REPLACED OR REPAIRED SINCE JULY:
  • 4 New Tires
  • Brand new Battery
  • New door strikers all around and drivers mechanism
