Contact | Website | Ebay Feedback This is a very lovely and completely honest (last year 107 body manufactured in 450) 1980 Mercedes Benz 450 SL roadster. This is an all original California car since new, 100% rust free, one owner with only 74,310 original miles.
A car is only original once and this is exactly what we have here. Every panel still retains a nice even layer of completely un-touched all original factory paint. There are no dents on the accident free body. The body is beautiful. Every panel is original to the car and the doors, trunk and hood close like a bank vault. The paint has lost most of it's luster, however the car is very attractive with a tremendous amount of patina. This Benz has aged gracefully....
The engine starts right up and is in excellent tune. Everything worked properly when tested. The acceleration is strong and positive. The car is smooth and runs extremely well. The car has all of the characteristics of a low miles well kept classic car. The transmission shifts smoothly and on the mark, it is a pleasure to drive....The brakes, steering and suspension all felt great on our test drive. All mechanical, electrical and climate control systems work. All gauges show accurate and normal readings. The original Becker Mexico radio is in Pristine condition and works great!
Misc:-All the books and manual are included-All chrome accessories and accents are in tact and look amazing!-Incredible looking bumpers, grille and trim.-All rubber components are in good original condition.-Power windows go up and down nice and quick-Excellent grip on the steering wheel-Nice stock "Bundt" wheels with zero curb rash, the tires are older and should be replaced soon-The car is in good alignment and handles the road amazingly well.-All of the glass looks great with no noticeableimperfections!
The interior is also all original and also completely untouched/very respectable.
-All original "Tobacco" leather was a special order option in this car. Other than the obvious the seats are firm, sturdy and comfortable. The high quality-durable Germanleather is nearly 40 years old and has held up very well over the years.-Overall the wood is complete, however there are imperfections-chipping-peeling-A+ original carpeting-As a result of the California sunshine the dash has cracks-The door panels are A+-All chrome seat side covers are present (rare)-Clean fully functional sunvisors
The owner kept the original hardtop for his other SL and prior to just removing it was the first time its ever been off the car. So this was the first time the soft top has ever been exposed. The chocolate soft top canvas is like new! The clear plastic windows do have some cloudiness but no yellowing or cracking. Everything locks down nice and tight and it all looks great! Fortunately we were able to source a matching hard top in the exact color which we will throw in for the new owner if he or she wants it.
This 450 roadster is just plain "nice". The new owner will be pleased with how original and authentic it is. Don't miss out on this one owner, rust free California car!
