Up for sale is an extremely rare, 1-of-700 1986 Mercedes Benz 300E Factory 5-Speed Manual. Less than 700 of these were ever produced; 400 produced in the W124's first model year (1986), when they dropped the MT option entirely for 1987 and brought back only 300 examples for 1988 before retiring it as an option in the US market. That equates to less than 700 of these cars that were ever offered in the North American market with a factory MT.
This car is shown in perfect running and driving condition with 157000 original miles and has been garaged it's entire life. It was upgraded when sold from the dealership, with an AMG body kit and OEM spoiler which are both in great condition.
This particular car is probably the best example of a Manual Transmission W124 Mercedes that you will come across in the USA; as it has the highly desirable Blauschwartz exterior/Palomino interior option. An already rare color combo, paired with the 5-Speed manual, this W124 is among the rarest and most well-kept of them all.
The exterior is in 9/10 condition with only a few tiny dings on the driver's side and a few rock chips which is to be expected from a 32 year old vehicle. There is no rust whatsoever on the car aside from a tiny area in the rear passenger fender where the paint is lifting ever so slightly. The AMG fog lights also need to be replaced but can be found easily on eBay.
The interior is in 9.5/10 condition with no rips, tears, or stains in the fabric or carpet whatsoever. The interior is missing no trim pieces and retains full functionality, with a leak-free functional power sunroof, all power options, and automatic folding headrests. The original Palomino floor mats are in excellent condition and have always had an aftermarket floor mat on top of them.
The headliner is in great shape aside from a few small scratches from years of the power sunroof opening and closing. Dash is free of cracks, and the instrument cluster is in crystal clear shape with all functioning lights. Rear seat and carpet look brand new. No pets and never smoked in. Original MBZ first aid kit has never been opened or used and remains fully intact.
The power telescoping wheel works perfectly, as does the power seats, windows, and wiper. The Heat, Defrost, and Air Conditioning work flawlessly, as does the rear window defrost. It has been fitted with an aftermarket Pioneer stereo deck with AUX and USB which works great, and has upgraded speakers in the doors. The antenna has been removed but has never caused me an issue listening to FM radio.
It has been meticulously maintained throughout it's life and has absolutely no drivability issues whatsoever. The shift linkage bushings have been replaced with brand new ones, it shifts smooth and precise and has never shown any sign of weakness. It has brand new front brake rotors and pads, and the rear pads and rotors have been changed within the last year. It has been upgraded with H&R Lowering Springs and Bilstein Shocks but is otherwise stock in every way.
Headlights, Brights, and the yellow driving lights all function perfectly. The headlights and tail lights are in like-new condition, and have no pitting or discoloration.
