The Mercedes 300 Series
The Mercedes 300 series was the top of the line for post-war cars in the 50's and 60's. The cars were big, owerful and packed with advanced features. Most often, he cars were used as limousines or transportation for heads of state. From 1952 to 1962 only around 6,200 Mercedes 300 sedans were built! That makes this a very rare and desirable car for any collector. Not many 300's exist in this condition. This is a rare chance to buy a reliable driving show-car that is very unique.

History of this Mercedes 300
I purchased this car at an auction in Houston, exas in 2009. This Mercedes, nd several others, ere being sold by a collector car company in Laredo, exas. I bought several cars for customers at this auction, nd eventually discovered that all of the cars had originally come from southern California. Some of the cars had original black-plates in the trunk and some of the cars had anecdotal paperwork connecting them to California. This car has a sticker in the rear quarter window for the Miniature Electric Scale Auto Club, slot-racer modeler's club that was active in Los Angeles during the 1960's and 1970's. This sticker along with the condition of the body and frame lead me to believe the car is an original southern California car.

Upon inspection, t was apparent that this Mercedes had been restored sometime in the late 1980's or early 1990's. The interior, ody/paint condition, nd wood trim were in excellent shape. After a few days of shop time, he car was up and running. Then it sat for a couple years while we replaced the brakes, istributor (electronic ignition from Brooklyn Motorworks), ebuilt the carbs, nstalled dual yellow-top Optima batteries, esealed a few trim pieces and installed air conditioning. We also did a complete paint job. Since then it has been driven on occasional Sunday's and to a few car shows.

Current Condition
This classic Mercedes 300 is a show-worthy car that drives as good as it looks. The complete set of pictures tells the story of this beautiful car. I've never seen any rust on it since the day I bought it in 2009. Hundreds of hours of labor have gone into this car to fix all the little things and make it a comfortable, eliable car to drive. The tires are like-new with less than 1,000 miles. The interior is very nice, s previously stated, believe it was redone in the 1990's. The clutch moves freely and the transmission shifts smoothly. The carbs were recently tuned. It is a little finicky until warmed up, nd a manual choke cable allows adjustment of the idle. All of the gauges and indicator lights work. All the exterior lights work, ncluding the signals and signal switch. The dual-setting horn functions. The stock heater, ents and blower work. The 12V outlet works. The self-lubricating chassis system works. The electric torsion bars work. The distrbutor advance control works. The windshield wipers work. The brakes are redone and work perfectly, ncluding the e-brake. All of the glass is excellent and original. The aftermarket air conditioning blows ice cold, nd has a rear fan unit. The dual batteries allow for reliable starting, ven after sitting for extended periods of time. Please feel free to ask any questions about operation or condition. But this vehicle was built to be driven by a detail-oriented customer who wanted everything to function properly.

Original Items & Technical Manuals on CD Included
Along with this beautiful car, everal cool original items are included such as a CD of technical manuals, ocument scans, nd reference photographs all relating to the Mercedes 300 series. The original jack and lug wrench are in the trunk. A recreation English language owner's manual is in the glovebox. Also included is a very special and ultra-rare Mercedes 300 replacement parts toolbox. This toolbox came from another 1954 Mercedes 300. It is incomplete, ut in excellent condition. In years of watching 300's for sale (in all types of condition), have not seen another toolbox like this.

Also included with this auction sale is a near-twin 1954 Mercedes 300 parts car. This parts car was purchased in Colorado in 2011. It is missing some components, ut has many additional parts from other Mercedes 300's. Everything is included, his parts car is sold on bill of sale.
