This is the European version of the American SL series. This model designation of the R107 Mercedes-Benzes were never officially sold in the states, so they are a rare sight in the United States, less than 100 were shipped here. The Actual Vin number is WDB1070411a042940, however it is not in the American car database. The car registration and title have this actual

VIN number listed.I am the original owner and kept the car in our garage for over 12 years. Because it wasn't drivenfor so long I have replaced the following with new components.

1.New battery

2.New Michelin tires

3.New AC compressor (Freon is illegal now-so a conversion kit was also installed)

4.New shock absorbers

5.New motor mounts

6.New replaced side view mirrors (due to brown oxidation on the old ones)

New horn

This SL had the ubiquitous M103 3.0 liter six cylinder engine producing 188 horsepower outside of US markets. A dependable motor that returned decent gas mileage (in comparison to its V8 stablemates), this engine always seemed to be a better fit for such a small vehicle than the large, 5.6 liter V8 of the 560SL.The engine is 180hp as compared to a 380SL with only 155hp so there is plenty of power. Most V8 107s are too heavy in front so they seem to plow through corners.

This car is in near mint condition and drives as if it were new. The only defect is some minor pitting in some of the chrome trim.The engine is smooth and responsive. At idle there is a smooth and quiet hum. The car has a very solid, stable and responsive feel to the ride. The AC is frigid cold.

The interior is a beautiful maroon-burgundy leather with a buttery feel to it. The exterior is whitewith a maroon pin stripe and no damage to the body. The soft top has never been used but is in perfect condition. Included is a removable radio-cd that was never used. I highly doubt that there exists today this 1986 model with so few miles on it. Anyone who loves the vintage look of the mercedes sl will fall in love with this car.
