If you've been shopping for one of these 560SL's, then you know most of these things have a lot of miles and/or are in rough shape. Not this one. This vehicle is still all original and has only 35k original miles. This type of vehicle is very hard to find. Don't miss your opportunity to own a 560SL with very low miles and with no accidents. Overall, this vehicle is in excellent condition with a great looking color combination. (Arctic White with a burgundy interior) We will try to describe and go over most of the car, please read and view all of the 104 pictures listed below. Would you buy a car on eBay with four pictures and one paragraph of description? NO. That is why at Classic Cars Online, our listings will go over and show every area of the vehicle that is up for auction. Bid with confidence! 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL Coupe/Roadster Paint / Body: The paint on this vehicle is still all original. Mercedes called this color "Arctic White" (Code 147). It is in excellent shape with no checking, fading or scratches. It has a deep shine with great reflection. It may have a few small stone chips on the front that could be easily touched up. The body is solid and rust free. There are no signs of any rust, rust bubbles or weak areas. There are no scrapes, dents, or door dings any where on the vehicle. It is very straight and true. The body panel alignment is good with the correct gaps and fit. A burgundy pinstripe ties in well with the interior color. Hardtop / Convertible Top: The car has both the soft and hard tops. I assume the black convertible soft top is still original to the vehicle. It is in nice condition. The top has one small rip. It was just done when putting the top up and down for the photos. (See photo #36) The owner found a place that may be able to patch it from the underside. The rear plastic window(s) are in nice condition without any fogging or discoloration. Putting the top up and down is a breeze. The Mercedes-Benz "Top Tool" is stored in the glove box. The factory hardtop is all original also. The paint is great along with the beige headliner. It is trimmed in burgundy that matches the interior. The top has an electrically heated rear window. The vehicle will also come along with a rolling hardtop storage rack. (Storing the hardtop when it is off the vehicle.) Chrome / Trim: All of the original chrome and trim pieces are intact and in excellent condition. The chrome bumpers look great with no pitting or fading. The top of the rear bumper has few minor scratches where you would set a package as you open the trunk. (Very hard to see) The black rubber pieces on the bumpers are nice without any fading or cracking. All of the trim pieces including the emblems, headlight bezels, taillights, grill assembly and mirrors are all excellent. The only minor problem we found was the third brake light housing has a small crack in it. (See photo #33) Interior: Viewing this near perfect interior, its hard to imagine it's all still original, but it is. The Burgundy Leather interior upholstery is gorgeous. (Mercedes code 277) Everything is in excellent condition with very little wear if any. The only thing we found was some very minor wear on driver's left side bolster. Both door panels show no wear on the arm rests or any fading on the tops from the sun. The original carpet is in excellent condition and includes the factory carpeted mats which are in great condition also. The vehicle has the optional heated seats (code 873) which work well. The factory Becker Grand Prix AM/FM Cassette radio works fine. (cassette not tested) Recently when the MB dealer unlocked the theft deterrent code on the radio, (After having the battery disconnected for a long time) the power antenna stopped in the partially extended position. All of the lights, wipers, horns, instrument panel gauges, clock and fan/controls are working fine. The air conditioning system isn't blowing cold and may need a quick recharge or going over. The Mercedes First Aid kit is located in the rear compartment and still has all the issued supplies inside. Engine Compartment: The engine compartment is very clean and original looking. This is what we would expect from a low mileage vehicle. This original 5.6 Litre light alloy OHC V8 with fuel injection runs like a champ. (227hp 275 ft.lb torque). It drips a few drops of oil if it's parked for a length of time. (No additional oil needed to be added since recent oil change.) Bolted to this engine is the original 4-speed automatic transmission that is also performing like it should. The cooling system was flushed and new coolant was added a few months ago. (September) At that time new spark plugs were installed also. Trunk Compartment: The carpeted trunk area is like new. The original burgundy carpet is clean and free of any stains or marks. Under that carpet is the original full size spare tire. This Michelin tire looks like it hasn't been out of the storage area. The spare is mounted on a factory MB alloy wheel that matches the four others. The original MB tool kit in its cloth bag is complete along with the factory jack and jacking tools. The battery which is also located in the trunk is new and was just replaced. Glass: All of the original tinted glass pieces are in excellent shape. There are no cracks, chips, or scratches. The power side windows are working great with no known problems. Wheels / Tires: The vehicle still has the five(5) original Mercedes-Benz alloy wheels. These 15" wheels are very nice with only minor paint chipping on the outer edge from past wheel weights being installed. Mounted on these factory rims are new Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring black wall tires. Size: 205/65R15. Frame / Undercarriage: The underside: This should be the first place you look when buying a 31 year old vehicle. Go ahead and view the photos of the undercarriage of this car. You will see very quickly how clean and nice this rust free roadster is. Remember, it only has 35K original miles. Its been pampered. The exhaust system is solid with no leaks or holes. The suspension is tight and problem free with no squeaks or other noises. It drives very nice with a solid feel. The brake system was just serviced. It received two new rotors and brake pads in the front along with having the entire brake system flushed and new fluid added. Nine times out of ten, people selling a car would not talk about or take any photos of the underside. The undercarriage tells you a lot about the car, that is why there are a few pictures of the bottom. Manuals / Paperwork: The vehicle will come along with all the original manuals that are located in the glove box. (Owner's manual, Service Schedule booklet, Radio manual, Tire Manual, Roadside Assistance manual, and the little metal warranty plate with the original owner's information stamped into it along with the date of manufacturing, in service date, chassis number and engine number among other things. The vehicle also comes with the original window sticker. (See photo #104) A folder with numerous service records and receipts over the years will go along with the vehicle.
