1979 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series

This car was a present for our son after surviving his first year of engineering school. Over the past two years and eighteen thousand miles he has driven the car around Minneapolis and between there and New York (three times). During this entire period the car performed flawlessly. This supports the endorsement of the previous owner; a serious home mechanic Benz buff who bought the car as a project. Prior to his brief custody the car was on a used lot in Morristown NJ. I can only surmise as to its origins. I would describe the rust as very minor and something that could be beaten into submission with a good paint job. There are only two mechanical issues (to my knowledge); a leaky seal in the firewall near the accelerator pedal (allows rain to enter the cabin) and a fuel tank that should perhaps be replaced (we had it patched a year ago and there's been no leakage since, but I would take that leak as a warning). The low mileage, excellent appearance and solid mechanical condition make this a definite contender for anyone coveting a diesel Benz.
