1979 Mercedes-Benz 400-Series 450 SL

Selling two-owner, low mileage 1979 Mercedes 450 SL. Last owner was elderly man who bought the car in California and drove it regularly. The car has always been garaged. The car has no rust and was in one fender bender per the owner. The repair was done at Park Place Mercedes by certified dealer, to the left wheel and housing. All papers for maintenance and repairs are provided. Paint is original. According to the owner, the hardtop was always on the car, which was evident when I took it off to look at the soft top. The soft top is in good shape. The soft top is original and the fabric is not faded or worn, and the plastic rear windows are clear. The interior is in very good condition with minimal wear. The console veneer is in near perfect condition with no cracks or separation. There is no warped or peeling. The dash top is original and has no cracks. I have owned the car for nearly three years, driven regularly. There is no varnishing of the fuel lines. It gets 12-14 MGP on premium fuel. It starts without difficulty and runs about as fast as I care to drive without any problems. The interior is original except the seats, which were rebuilt 3 years ago with new hair, covers, and driver’s side springs. The tires and battery are new and the oil was changed at the same time with quality oil and filter. Of note, all maintenance has been on time or early over the life of the car. The paint on the car is original and in excellent condition. All the VIN tags are still under the body panels as they should be. The color combination is the seldom seen British Red with Beige seats and interior. All of the options on the car, A/C, power windows, etc. work as they should. The top operated locking/releasing mechanisms all work as they should. The car starts immediately with no rattles or smoke. This car has a legitimate 155 thousand miles on it, at 4 thousand a year it is still a low mileage vehicle. Der Panzervagon is the name the German engineers gave to this beast, and it should drive for many years to come. The air conditioner blows cold and was rebuilt a few years back, and uses the newer coolant. The car drives and shifts as it should with no clunks, surging or vibration. All gauges work, as does the clock unit. The radio is a top of the line Retrosound reproduction; Bluetooth enabled system with new speakers. Even the trunk lamp works on this car. The battery is new and has been stored with a battery charger, to ensure long battery life. This is a no excuses, great year R107 Roadster. You won’t see another one that is in this kind of shape, don’t pass it up. Please contact me if you have questions.
