Broken Transmission, fix or use for parts

1992 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 300TE 4Matic Wagon

Car underwent extensive inspection and maintenance, receipts for most work done to it for the past 16 years +/- is present. Car was a great daily driver, A/C worked fine. I no longer have a place to wrench and the thought of replacing the transmission is not going to happen.When transmission failed, no warning was given, driving at slow speed in a parking lot and lost all forward gears. Reverse and Park work fine, zero forward gear engagement.
This happened a few months ago and the car has been parked, (started about 1x per week) so the battery is likely to need replacement too.
The car drips some oil here and there under the engine, few other drips consummate with the mileage.
