Description:

1980 Mercedes-Benz G-Class BADASS

This is by far the most B A D A S S - Legit - Street Terrorizing G-WAGEN you’ll ever come across. A T T I T U D E ! Not for the biodiesel hippies, the Sunday car wash enthusiasts, the weak hearted, nor the fainted spirits, and definitely not, to take your babe to the grocery store to pick up some milk... Unless she's into making some serious mischief. Just slightly lifted to take the 33' wheels, its powerful 4 Banger engine WITH 185HP, pushes this whip faster than any W-460 you might have heard of, (ON and OFF the road), while still retaining its mythical reliability. Would stand awesomely in the Baja 1000 Race or in your habitual urban raids. Showing a killer Triple Black trim, nothing was made by chance here. With balance and performance in mind, all the different custom accents were carefully curated to make it look as badass as it really is, but never stepping out of the Mercedes-Benz heritage. Threatening, tough, and robust, this 1983 G-Wagen is in great shape and crazy fun to ride. The motor is exhilarating and endless, with so much performance, it gets you closer to the emotions of driving an old Rally car rather than a sluggish G-Wagen. It won't be long until you'll think of wearing a helmet, and push it even harder, or just enjoy it cruising endlessly at very low RPMs on your daily road. Want to cross a river? Go for it! Just open the doors afterwords to let the water out. This G is not perfect, neither it pretends to be. but it is fully operational, extremely reliable, and ready for all terrains you might throw at his wheels. It has no structural rust and needs nothing except a missing side blinker (A new one will be mounted before the car goes to a new home). Its preparation is more oriented for fast off road tracks and/or daily urban commuting, rather than rock crawling, as its long gear ratio and high RPMs engine, feels more comfortable in these terrains.

This original Mercedes-Benz 230GE was converted into a race-like convertible and its slow & primitive power plant has been upgraded with the legendary engine and gearbox setup of a Mercedes-Benz 190 2.3-16V from 1986. Odometer on this G marks 13,000 Miles but true mileage is unknown. This G is from 1983 but is listed as 1980 because eBay doesn't recognize foreign VIN numbers. Developed by Cosworth, this engine in roadgoing trim, makes 185 hp at 6,200 rpm and 174 lb·ft (236 N·m) at 4,500 rpm. The heads for the engines were cast at Cosworth's Coscast foundry in Worcester and sent to Germany to be fitted to the rest of the engine, parts of which were different from the standard 2.3 including light pressed alloy pistons, and rings designed to withstand higher engine speeds, whilst con-rods, bearings and bearing caps were found to be strong enough as standard and left unaltered. The Getrag 5-speed manual gearbox was unique to the 16-valve engine and features a 'racing' gear pattern with 'dog-leg' first gear, left and down from neutral. This means that the remaining 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gears are in a simple H pattern allowing fast and easy selection. The choice of gearbox also allows this G to cruise easily at 70MPH.
