The Mercedes Benz 280 SL Class Pagoda Roadster was unique to the 113W series in that it boasted 20 hp more than previous models. Thanks to the 6 cylinder 2.8L engine it proudly reached 180hp and top speeds of 120 mph. This additional power and speed led it to become the most popular of the SL Series produced between 1963 and 1971. Equipped with a 4-spd. automatic transmission front disc/rear drum power-assisted brakes and power steering. The Pagoda hard top/soft top is its most notable feature and made this California convertible one of the most notable sports cars of its time driven by many of the elite during its prime. Over 40 years later the280 SL Pagoda Roadster is still a very desirable acquisition for many collectors and continues to hold its value. Featured here is a tenderly wonderfully cared for version that has undergone comprehensive restoration both mechanically and cosmetically. Garage-kept and pampered with both the Pagoda hard top and convertible soft top intact. Previous restoration included a professionally installed upgrade to the interior from its original Moss Green to genuine Mercedes leather in Beige professionally installed and in good condition. Interior wood veneer accents recently restored. New Becker Europa period correct radio included with the vehicle though Pioneer Stereo is currently installed. Beautiful windows-out repaint was completed only 1.5 years ago in original Moss Green (color code 834G) and is in excellent condition. Original chrome is also in great condition featuring new front bezels. Partial mechanical restoration has been completed over the last 5 years including upper engine complete restore (new Bosch fuel injection new exhaust) resulting in a mechanically sound excellent driving example. Dominator tires in good condition. The 280SL Pagoda Roadsters are still greatly admired among sport scar enthusiasts and have become an iconic model in Mercedes Benz history.
