Description:
1977 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series
1977 Mercedes 280se . Starts and runs but needs work........This was my wife's first car, she has been the only owner for 14 years since 2002. It was a semi-weekend driver till about 4 years ago. It has been sitting in the driveway for 4 years. Up until the, it drove fine, had regular maintenance on it, oil changes, tuneups, anything else that needed to be done was done, but it has not been driving in 4 years and its time to clear the space. I do not know that much about it as I AM NOT A MECHANIC. I do know that right before we parked i, it got a new fuel pump and interior done. I remember the fuel pump was about 350$.. Now there are issues with it, and i believe in being completely honest when it comes to buying and selling cars. I hate it when i get something and there is an issue that was not disclosed to me, therefor i would never do that to anyone else... That being said, as i stated before, I AM NOT A MECHANIC, so there may be something else wrong with it that i have no idea about... But here is what i do know........ As you can see in the pics, its been sitting a while and needs a new paint job. There is some smoke coming from the engine when started, i cant see exactly where its coming from, its not a lot of smoke, kinda looks like a cigarette amount of smoke, this never happened before when it was being driven. so Im not sure as to what this is, maybe just a gasket or something needs replaced, maybe the old gas in the line, maybe something more, I DO NOT KNOW. It starts right up, but after it starts it has to run for a little bit before you drive it, meaning right after i start it, if i press on the gas it dies. but if i start it and leave it running for a few mins, then press on the gas it runs like normal...???? Don't know what this means? The transmission seems to work fine, had no problems putting it in drive or reverse, it moves the way its supposed to, so that's good.... My wife just told me that the odometer isn't spinning, so the mileage is INCORRECT. She said it stopped working about a year before she stopped driving it... There is some trim missing on the sides as you can see in the pics, Looks like the fog lights were taken off at some point, The dash has a couple cracks in it as you can see in the pics.. The Mercedes hood emblem is gone. The front drivers door handle is broken on the inside The windows are electric and work but go up and down slowly so probably gonna need to replace those motors soon. IT DOES HAVE A NEW INTERIOR AS YOU CAN SEE, THAT'S IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE.. the front window does have a crack in it Other than that stuff, i don't really know anything else about it.. I do know it starts up and runs, but i would not drive it out of her, as i don't know what the smoke is from or if there is anything else wrong, I would strongly recommend a tow out of her, and really will only allow that.. The brakes seem fine, they stopped good as i moved it up and down the drivewa, But this car is in need of a complete tune up and complete fluid flush at the least... That really may be all it needs, but it could be more.. I AM NOT A MECHANIC, I'm stressing that because i want to be fair and let the buyer know there is nothing I'm hiding, I'm stating all that i know about it, but it could be more? I would suggest this be bought by a mechanic that can do the necessary work. This is an almost 40 year old Mercedes Benz that runs so i think the price is fair just for that alone. Anything beyond tha, i am not responsible or liable for.... Any questions, feel free to ask and i will try my best to get you an accurate answer. If you need additional pics of somethin, just ask and ill get them to you....Vehicle Details:
