Description:

1979 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series

1979 Mercedes Benz 300SD for sale. I bought the car in 2008. It had been restored by the previous owner. Since I have owned the car I had the transmission rebuilt in 2012. The following restoration was done to the car by the previous owner.

Rocker panels replaced, floor boards replaced, firewall repaired, rear by quarter panels patched.Block sanded, new paint, new undercoating, new grille, new halogen headlights and headlight surrounds, new fog lights, new windshield and molding. New front end steering rod. Driver door molding. New arm rest. New carpeting. New interior door molding. New tail-light gaskets.

Engine re-sleeved with new rings, 1 new piston, rod and main bearings, new timing chains. 2 aluminum A/C servos(each with a lifetime warranty – MB cost over $900 each).Brakes, brake fluid, coolant, radiator rebuilt, new fuel injection vacuum pull-off, new glow plugs, polished valve cover, new battery, new air filter support bracket, recent new tires, new $1000 stereo system with woofer and amplifier, Dash pad, new speedometer head, new A/C compressor, drier, A/C expansion valve (between Hi &Lo pressure portions of A/C). A/C converted to 134 from R12.

In the time that I have owned the car I have put less than 2000 miles on the restoration (car).

There are a few items that may need attention in the future. The sunroof has not been open since the car was repainted. I was told the mechanism is ok just paint on gasket has partially sealed. So molding on sunroof will need replaced and mechanism lubed. Battery has always been on battery tender. The starter may need to be replaced. The price of a new starter with new solenoid is $120 on Rock Auto.com After the car has been running for a while if you shut the engine off it does not restart right away (starter does not engage). If the car sits for a while and you try again the starter engages and engine starts fine. The A/C does not blow as cool as it should may need to be recharged. Most of the majorA/C parts have been replaced so should not be too costly to getthe AC blowing cold again.

I looked up the vehicle valuation report for this model of Mercedes and Hagerty says the average value is $7200. NADA lists the average retail at $8400. I would say my car is above average in condition but does have a few needs. For this reason the asking price for this car is $5595.

If you have questions or are interested in seeing the car respond to contact email address. Car has been always been stored in a garage by last 2 owners.

The mileage on car is unknown. The odometer reads 037260. I don't know what the actual mileage on the car. I could be a total of 137260 or 237260 or more. But the car has been restored to like new condition. Listed odometer is changing as car is still being driven.

I am selling due to health issues.

$500 deposit to be paid by PayPal with 48 hours of listing ending. If you want to pay the whole price by PayPal you must add the PayPal fee which last I heard it was 2.9% of the total price paid. If you want to have the car shipped buyer must arrange for and pay for the shipping.

I am looking into buying a new starter for the car. If car sells for full price I will include the starter.
