1986 Mercedes-Benz Other

If you are looking for a genuine European truck, here it is. This Mercedes 2.4 liter extended bed diesel has a sound that is unique to German vehicles. The vehicle’s unique appearance lends to its curb appeal and its 1.5 ton carrying capability adds to its versatility as a reliable truck. The vehicle is currently titled, registered and recently inspected (June) in the state of Pennsylvania. After the initial wait for the glow plugs, the engine typically starts on the first try and runs very well. The 307D will achieve close to 30 mpg on the highway and it does pretty good in the city as well. The interior is pretty much all original and is, with the exception of a heavy used floor mat and a worn edge of the driver’s side seat, in very good condition. The passenger side bench seat is in near perfect condition. The accompanying photos will be of assistance in displaying the overall condition of the vehicle’s interior. As seen in the photos, the exterior is very clean. The vehicle was imported in the USA in 2013. The original German company’s name is on the side doors and adds to the vehicle’s pedigree and historical lineage to Germany. The extended bed of the truck measures 9.5ft x 6.25ft. Easy handles 4x8 sheets of plywood or sheet rock if you so desire. The side boards of the truck bed can be folded down to convert the truck into a flatbed for easy loading and offloading of material. There is an elevated tarp for the truck (pease see the attached photo). The tarpprovidesexcellent coverage and protection from the elements thus preserving the wooden truck bed below. With that having been said, the vehicle is 30 years old and the condition of the remainder of the paint varies fromgood to very good. To bring the overall condition of the paint into excellent condition a fresh coat of paint would be ideal. The protective wood covering on the flat bed portion of the truck is in overall good condition and repainted within the past 2 weeks. Another option for the truck bed would be to remove the protective wood entirely and expose the truck's original tongue and groove wood flooring which is still in very good condition. The Mercedes was garaged during all 3 winters that I have owned it and I rarely was caught out in the rain with it either. As mentioned earlier, mechanically, the truck runs very well. The engine does have one quirk that is comment with older diesels and that is when you turn the ignition off, sometimes you have to hit the fuel quickly and it will then turn off.
The truck has a five speed manual transmission.
The speedometer works fine. The actual mileage/kilometers indicated on the speedometer is272,341 km or 168,851miles. As you may know, the anticipated life expectancy for a Mercedes 2.4 liter Dieselismuch more than the accumulated amount. The engine does not leak or use oil. Once again, for the age of the vehicle, leaking any type of fluid is truly amazing and a testimonial to the durability of the Mercedes 2.4 liter diesel engine! An interesting side note to the speedometer is that it actually works as tachograph that will record mileage and time driven on circular chart paper. This feature was designed to track the actual driving times and distances for two drivers. The Mercedes has a German installed Blaupunkt -Hamburg model radio/cassette player, both features seem to work fine. The step-ups into the cab on both sides were replaced in Germany prior to it arriving here in the USA (please reference the applicable photos). The vehicle comes with a copy of the owner’s manual in German and an extra set of Mercedes floor mats (please referenced the attached photo). Additionally, a factory option Mercedes hazard light/warning light is also included in the cab attached to the driver seat (once again, please reference the attached photos). The VIN shown in the header is a placeholder since the eBay system is not set-up to accommodate European VINs. The actual VIN is WDB60231110743287. Naturally, the vehicle is being sold without any guarantees. Title transfer at the time of sale and the transfer of the vehicle to the new owner’s residence will be the financial responsibility of the purchaser. I will happily assist in the transfer of the vehicle with whoever the purchaser elects to hire. For your convenience, I will be happy to accept cash, money orders or cashier’s checks as a form of payment. Please take a look at all of the enclosed photos, I think that you’ll agree that a Mercedes truck of this nature does not grace the US shores too often. I’ll be happy to answer any questions that you may have relating to the vehicle.
