Description:

1972 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL

This car has been in my family since it was brand new. I have the original dealer sticker, and I was there when my parents took delivery of the car from Biefus Buick / Mercedes in South Orange NJ. It is a U.S. specification 1972 350 SL (not gray market). This is the first year of the 107 body style, and the carhas the rare "tear drop" lights and the attractive small bumpers available in 1972. I do not have all of the records from the time my mother had the car in NJ, but since I have had in here in New Hampshire I have kept all the service records. I have continuously maintained the car with whatever it needed. I have used Mobil 1 synthetic oil, had the soft top replaced, had the sub frame restored, valves and brakes done, and new exhaust. The AC works as it is supposed to. The temperature slide adjusters are not frozen, but do require a soft touch (as do the knobs). The glove box light/flashlight has not worked for many years. I have added a 12 volt receptacle under the dash on the passenger side for using a GPS or charging a Cell phone (not available in 1972). There is a dash cover in place. I have added the rear seat option, with safety belts so that I could take my kids for ice cream rides. I have the original carpeted bench. My father had preferred the Euro style headlights so he had them installed back in the 70's. I have the original US headlights in a box. He also had the radio antenna relocated to the rear (as a proper convertible should in his opinion). The car runs and drives, and has been kept on my storage lift out of harms way for the past few years. It is stored with the hard top off and the soft top in place (covering car) in order to keep the rear window from getting cracks or lines. Passed inspection in January and has only been out once since then. It comes down only on nice days for a special trip or show. A couple of the interior plastic pieces are cracked, but they are not hard to find parts (seat back release trim on drivers side, and shoulder belt storage clips). The car is being sold as is and where is. The listed mileage is approximate as I may be driving the vehicle from time to time. I reserve the right to end the auction early if the vehicle sells locally. I will work with the buyers shipper if needed. No title will be transferred until payment in full has cleared with the bank. I encourage any potential bidder to come and look at the car prior to bidding, and to ask questions prior to bidding.
Added information - The car does come with the original matching hardtop and the Mercedes hardtop storage dolly. Current mileage is under 118,100
