1956 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class

In our family since 1992, always garaged and kept up, driven sparingly. Purchased in Calif. Came to Tucson for mechanical work. I personally rebuilt the engine, replaced the clutch, checked transmission. Brakes redone at same time, used silicone brake fluid.The small tail lights make a difference in looks, best year before the ugly big lights.
This vehicle is surprisingly original, engine, transmission, rear end, wheels, gauges, The wiring is original and seems to work well.
Body: The only change is a front clip, grill area, fenders are original. Rear looks all original. Two small rust through spots, one above exhaust pipe, the other in foot well area, drivers side. Photos show these areas. Dent under front bumper, passenger side, bumper bar with some damage. There are a few bubbles around head lights, hard to see, also on hood a few imperfections, ripples in paint, hard to see. Licence plate lights are loose, and could use replacement. A few paint chips here and there, but overall, great shine and depth in clear coat.
Upholstery: Top is Haartz cloth, and seats are leather, German square weave carpeting. Presents nicely. Seats are thin, 300SL type.Driving: Starts right up, good compression, no smoke. Clutch works well, shifts smoothly. Brakes need adjustment, pulls to left. Tires older, but I see no imperfections, plenty of life left in them.
What more can I say, an outstanding car, that can only increase in value, ck. Hagerty prices. Average value is over 100K now. Reserve is reasonable, considering market values. A greatinvestment, being a solid original vehicle. Ask questions. Reserve is private, don't ask. Enjoy:
