That is why at Classic Cars Online, our listings will go over and show every area of the vehicle that is up for auction. Body & Paint: The color of the paint is called "Smoked-Silver Metallic". (Mercedes paint code: 702) It is a great looking color for this type of car. This original paint is in excellent condition. It looks great with a deep shine with no fading, checking, cracking or orange peel. There are no scratches, dings or dents. Looking down the sides of the vehicle, you can see that the car's body is very straight and true. There are no signs of any rust or other problems. Check out the photos of the bottom of the doors. This body is very clean and solid.
Soft Top & Removable Hardtop: The black convertible soft top is in excellent condition. It is believed to be still original with the Mercedes logo molded into the plastic windows. There are no rips, holes or marks on the top. The plastic rear windows are also in nice condition with no major yellowing or fogging. The "Smoked-Silver Metallic" removable hardtop is also in excellent condition. (Sorry, we forgot to take the photos of the hardtop which was in storage.) The headliner on the hardtop is clean and looks great. When not on the vehicle, the hardtop is stored in a fitted bag/cover and kept on a rolling vertical rack. This storage rack and hardtop cover will go along with the sale of the vehicle.
Chrome & Trim: The chrome bumpers are in excellent condition. The rest of the chrome, stainless and rubber trim pieces are all also in great condition. The rubber bumper pieces are great and aren't cracked, split, or faded. The headlight bezels and front grille look great without any signs of road rash or stone nicks. The vehicle is equipped with the more desirable and better looking "Euro" style headlights. The vehicle is also fitted with four stainless steel wheel lip moldings which gives the car a great look.
Interior: The vehicle is equipped with dark burgundy leather interior. (Mercedes code: 277) This original interior is in excellent condition. The only wear we found was on the edge of the driver's seat on the bolster area where the dark burgundy dry has been lightly worn away. (See photo #43) This area can be easily repaired by just re-dying that small edge of the leather bolster. The rest of the interior is very clean and in great shape. The dash looks good without any cracks or fading. All of the lights, gauges, wipers, instrument panel components, and other electrical items are all in working order. The air conditioning works and is blowing cold. The factory radio is also working along with the power antenna.
Engine Compartment: Under the hood sits the original aluminum 3.8 liter 8 cylinder power plant. These engine are considered to be bulletproof. The engine is bolted to a 4 speed automatic transmission. The engine compartment is very clean and still looks factory stock. The vehicle starts, runs, and sounds great with no known problems. The owner always has kept up with the correct maintenance and changing of the filters/fluids. Remember, this vehicle only has 38,000 miles on it.
Trunk Compartment: The trunk compartment is original looking and is in great condition with all the original items. The red trunk liner and carpeted mat are very nice without any stains or wear. It has a spare tire that is mounted to the correct Mercedes wheel. The jack and jacking tools are all in their correct places. The Mercedes tools kit in the original cloth pouch is also there. The battery is installed behind the panel in the trunk as well.
Glass: All of the tinted glass pieces are original. There are no cracks, chips or scratches. Both power windows are all working without any problems.
Wheels & Tires: The vehicle has a set of chrome plated Mercedes Benz wheels installed. These upgraded chrome wheels are a nice touch in making this vehicle look great. They are in excellent condition without any scratches or scrapes. Mounted on these 14" chrome wheels are Michelin RoadHandler Sport tires, size 205/70R14.(100,000 tread warranty). All of the tires are in great condition with plenty of thread. The vehicle drives straight and doesn't pull, shake or vibrate.
Frame & Undercarriage: The frame and undercarriage are in excellent condition with no noticeable rust. With only 38,000 miles, I'm sure this vehicle hasn't seen that much of any harsh weather.
Nine times out of ten, people selling a car would not talk about or take any photos of the underside.
The undercarriage tells you a lot about the car, that is why there are a few pictures of the underside.
