1977 Mazda RX3SP coupe 2-door 1.1l
1977 Mazda RX-3
A 1977 Mazda RX3 SP Coupe project car. Purchased about 14 years ago with the intention of doing a restoration which never happened. Wanting to pass the car on to another "Rotor Head" who can appreciate the rarity of this model. First and foremost, this is a project car that has been off the road since 1985. It is not functional by any means and is being sold "as-is".History:Purchased by a woman on July 14, 1977 from International Mazda of Kirkwood Missouri. She drove it 151,000 miles in eight years. The car was driven out west to Nevada in 1985 where it was sat until 2010. I purchased the car in 2010 and it sat again for the next 14 years.Pros: Completely stock down to the original radio and Mazda logo floor mats (2). Original 12A engine and desirable 5-speed manual transmission. Port installed (?) air conditioning. Plaid seats, very good headliner and door panels. Fixed rear windows with louvers. Original REAPS exhaust system. Factory "Thunder Yellow" (YR) paint (one of five "performance" colors offered).Cons: Rust, Rust, Rust of course! (see photos). Body is pretty banged up mostly from a careless fork lift driver. Engine has not been started for almost 40 years. Tires are rotten. Front Spoiler is missing. Cracked dash top and heat damaged steering wheel rim.Additional comments:The car has a clean Nevada title in my name. The car comes with enough original pattern yellow tartan plaid material to reupholster the center sections of the seats. There is a drivers door and two extra front fenders in "OK" condition if the buyer wants them. There is an original owners manual, service manual, wiring manual and two keys included. There are a few service records from Lou Fusz Mazda of Saint Louis, MO. There is no mention of a replacement engine in the records, so the engine fitted appears to be from the factory. The car is located in Carson City, Nevada 89706. The RX3SP was the last of the pre RX7 rotary Savannas and were only sold in North America and Japan (SavannaGT V100). Actual production numbers estimates vary but 1600-2000 units are thought to be produced for the 1977-78 model years. The "Ultimate Appearance" package, which this car has, is very rare. The optional Ultimate Appearance package consisted of the lightning body stripes, front and rear spoilers and the three piece "Shadow" brand window louvers. Not all "SP's" were so equipped. Conclusion:The car is in tough shape and would require significant effort for restoration. The car, however, is mostly complete and all stock and would be a real prize at any rotary gathering or JDM car show (get that trophy wall ready). **The Mazda is stored at a limited access facility. Viewing or pickup can only be arranged Monday-Friday 9-4.*. *In person inspection is highly recommended**Videos:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYyzZYNFzzUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPYVgtE3eeYhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqRBGqK_tH4
