The engine starts right up and is in excellent tune. There are no leaks, smoke or unusual noises. Everything is solid. It is a clean runner and accelerates superbly. Very quick and sturdy ride. The steering is firm and the suspension is tight. The 5 spd manual transmission shifts easily and smoothly into all gears. The clutch is A+, and what a fun car to drive! The brakes stop the car on a dime. No pulling, lurching or swerving upon acceleration or braking. Freezing coldair conditioning. All interior and exterior lights worked properly when tested. Factory original Clarion radio sounds great! All gauges show accurate and normal readings. We had the car running for over an hour in 100 degree heat and the air conditioning blasting and the temp needle stayed well below the halfway mark the entire duration of our shoot. The car has been completely gone through. All fluids have been inspected along with belts, hoses and accessories. Everything is well sorted under the hood. The engine compartment is so clean you can literally "eat off of it". Even the 39 year old hood pad has remained in near mint condition. The car is impressive to say the least!
Misc:-All interior buttons, levers and knobs are present with no missing parts or pieces-defroster button/light turned on at the press of the button-Interior power trunk release works-Power drivers mirror-Working cigarette lighter/non smoker vehicle with spotless ashtray-All rubber trim and weatherstripping is soft and in near mint condition
Cosmetically the car is in stunning condition!Asleek and elegant pillar-lesstwo door design! Very good looking and rare car....
The original yellow paint finish has a beautiful glossy shine! It is gorgeous! No paint or body work!100% rust free body chassis. there is no a single spec of rust, rust repair, blister or bubble anywhere whatsoever. The body is sensational with few imperfections. Even the wheel wells and under body still bear all of the original paint and factory coating. This car has been garage kept in Southern California from day one and has never been exposed to any harsh weather. There are some normal dings, paint chips and minor wear. The rear bumper has a small "golf ball size" dent (see pics).
The interior is incredible! Beautiful hounds-tooth upholstery, excellent dash (minor imperfections), A+ door-panels and near perfect original headliner. The car is outstanding inside and out.
This special car is a must have for any Mazda collector, enthusiasts, or someone who is looking for a satisfying and handsome classic to drive around town or to the shows.
