1966 Lotus Super Seven

This is a real Lotus 7. It is not a Caterham nor a Westfield nor a Locost. This is a real 7 # SB2138. Lotus Components built in 1966. First registered in London 4/26/1966 # KGH987D. Now that we've got that out of the way, this is a pretty wonderful little 7.Originally sold to the US from a dealer in the UK, Mike Abbas, I have repeatedly tried to contact the Simple Sevens site for some more info on its life in the UK, but no response. I have some pics while it was in the UK.I have documentation on its importation from the UK to Virginia 5/10/85. I've spoken to the fellow who imported it and subsequently restored it. New Arch Motors frame. Series 3 Ford rear. I have many of his pics of his resto. He owned for a time and sold it on to a fellow in Colorado who restored it AGAIN and then let it sit. Many pics from him and spoke to him too. It was then sold to a race car dealer in MA on an older Lotus Elite trade. I purchased it from him and turned it into the car you see here.
When I purchased it it was bare aluminum and maroon. The first thing you do after polishing an aluminum 7 is save for a paint job. I stripped it completely and did the obligatory Prisoner paint. Only color for the car. Have all pics of strip down. Any dings or imperfection in the skin were fixed properly as was the fiberglass. It was all pretty good to start with, but since I was in there...Same for the interior. Changed from black to red, but left the dash. Which by the way is an S3 and has been since the before the car arrived here. The body and interior are both in excellent condition. All the electrical stuff is working.
The motor is a 1600 crossflow roller rocker Ford. It is very, very quick. The motor was built by Twin Cam in Ft. Lauderdale about 10 years ago for a Birkin 7 autocross/racecar and never used. I purchased it, freshened it up and put it in. Quicksilver Racing has JUST redone the head completely and that is back on. The car has a very highlift cam but is completely streetable and runs cool. Fans work and new swirl pot has helped greatly. Very dependable, very fast. Trans is Ford 4 speed. Clutch, brakes, hydraulics all great shape.
Did some re-bushing on the suspension, but shocks etc. are all in good shape. Has DSK adjustable front suspension. Has 5 REAL Lotus Cortina, not Cortina GT, wheels. Refurbished with all new tires.
There MAY be 1000 never raced miles on the engine, tires new paint etc.. The car is in excellent shape and ready to go. Full weather equipment but no heater.
This is a real 7. Titled as such and road registered. Take this car any where you might like, there is nothing really left to do but enjoy it. I'm selling because of other car projects needing $$$. Otherwise, it would not be for sale. This is a great car and a serious auction. I will be glad to answer all your questions, but please read the description first. Any reasonable inspections will be considered. Don't ask the price, bid or make me an offer.Don't bust my stones with stupid waste of time stuff (You know who you are). You are bidding to buy. Don't tell me your kid hit the button by mistake, I'll blame parenting skills and hold you to your bid. $1000 deposit due at close of auction. No money no car.
