This 1957 Lincoln Premiere is a true survivor with a long family history. Originally purchased by the seller’s aunt in the early 1960s, the car remained in her care until her passing. In 1978, it was acquired from her estate by the current owner, who has held onto it for over 45 years.
a professionally rebuilt 368 cubic inch V8 rated at 300 horsepower, the engine work was completed by the Mendenal Company in St. Louis, Missouri. The automatic transmission shifts as it should. A former body shop owner, the seller had the car repainted approximately 20 years ago, and the finish remains in good condition.
The interior was refreshed with reupholstered seats and new carpet by a specialist in St. Louis. The factory air conditioning system is still in place and runs on R32 Freon, though it will need a recharge. A new gas tank was installed in winter 2024, and while the engine starts and idles smoothly, the carburetor could use tuning.
The car has not been driven regularly since 2019 and has only seen about 10 miles in that time. The driver’s door glass is cracked, but a brand-new replacement is included. The passenger front vent window is inoperative.
This Premiere is a fantastic candidate for a light mechanical sorting or preservation project. It’s a stylish, mostly original piece of 1950s luxury and design, ready for its next chapter.
