1979 marks the end of the large Lincolns. While other American auto makes started cutting the size in their fleets around 1977, Lincoln remained one of the largest cars in the world up until 1979. This 1979 Mark V was in storage for the past 16 years. Amongst the 12 car collection, this car sat dormant for nearly 16 years until 9/11/2020. I bought the whole collection and started the process of cleaning these cars up one by one and get them running and driving. This Lincoln is a two owner vehicle and by the looks of the paperwork and title it looks like 1 family owned. The car original was a Corporate car first for an executive at Goyen Controls of America and then looks like either the driver of the car was given to was bought off the company and later a brother or son bought it from the same family. All the paperwork documents the mileage to be original. The previous owner of the collection I purchased loved the Lincolns and Cadillacs of this error and wanted to collect the ones he came across. But we all know how the story ends. Big intentions turn into not enough time or money which results in the accumulation of dust and neglect after a long hibernation in a barn out in the middle of PA. Well, I have the passion, desire and know how to get these cars recirculated back in our now collector market as these old luxury liners are starting to climb in value. Please read on about the condition of this Mark V and enjoy the videos and pictures as you scroll down to the bottom of the ad. Thank you for visiting and let me know of any questions you may have.
First, click on the image below to see the car just sitting in the barn amongst 11 other large cars from the era.
Exterior:
The exterior appears to be in excellent well maintained condition. It is said to have one repaint and after a buff and wax it looks and presents very well. The chrome bumpers are in like new condition which is a very rare find to find them in this condition. Its an indication that the car must have been garaged when not in use. The body appears to be very straight with some minor dents/dings on the stainless trim around the wheel wells. The windshield does have a large crack and for the buy it now price I will replace the windshield, but once offers are made and we negotiate the windshield may be not included with purchase. (we'll see who actually reads the ad). Otherwise the pictures speak for themselves. There were new tires installed right before the car entered storage. The vinyl top appears to be original and in excellent condition. Please view the video and photos and let me know of any questions you may have.
Interior:
The interior is all original and indicative of the miles. Although it appears very nice there is wear on the drivers and passenger seats. The pictures show in more detail. I know there are interior guys out there that can make this look new. The carpet and door panels are in excellent shape as the headliner too. The factory sunroof works great and has the manual shade screen too(not shown in pictures). Everything seems to work including the clock. However, the antenna doesn't not work which may need to be greased and I'm not sure about the A/C. Its a highly optioned car with sunroof, 8 track player, tilt wheel and cruise. The clock is a Cartier but not sure if that makes it the Cartier Edition or not. Please view the pictures and let me know of any questions.
Drive Train:
After getting the vehicle back to my shop I drained the tank, checked all the fluids and went through the brakes. The car started up with ease with a fresh battery. Before putting this vehicle on the road, I recommend changing fluids, a complete tune up and probably a good carburetor cleaning/rebuild. The brakes seem ok, in which I replaced the front right caliper. Again, I urge you to go through the vehicle before any long trips. I got the car running and driving and stopping. The engine is the 400 2bbl option. And runs surprisingly quiet for the amount of years it was stored. Any questions please let me know.
Payment:
A $1000 non refundable deposit is due immediately if you click on buy it now or we negotiate a price. The balance is due within 7 days by certified funds. If you are unfamiliar with how the buy it now or best offer works, please contact me first before you click on any buttons. Don't forget, for the buy it now price the car will come with a new windshield. I can help with storage until car gets picked up. Thank you!
