Description:

1940 Lincoln Continental

Up for bid! This auction is for a very rare car. I have recently moved and decided to give up a dream build. My plan was to take this 1st year, 1 of 350 buil, 1940 Lincoln Zephyr Continental Convertible and turn it into a 1 of a kind custom Hotrod on a new chassis with new drivetrain. Not going to happen for me with all the new house and related projects. So here is your opportunity to own a extremely rare big body classic. This Lincoln is considered the last hand made American car body. Meaning the body was hand hammered out and formed by hand. NOT stamped panels like they do now. The original drivetrain (V-12 and transmission) are long gone as well as the title. The listing made me put something in the title spot but this car does not have a title. I will happily give you a bill of sale from me personally. The Body and panels have some rust and floors have rusted out. Still a very solid platform to build from. Obviously a big build or restoration is needed. This car does come with a large list of rare parts and pieces. Including: Front and rear seats and seat frames(12 pieces), 7 fender skirts(2 with trim molding), 2 piece windshield frame and pattern glass, 2 rear top window glass frames(1 is xlnt w/glass), 1 beautiful NOS Zephyr 6 volt battery, 1 complete dash sheet-metal, 1 original speedometer (condition?), 2 steering wheels (restorable, 1 with horn button), misc. hood trim, right and left grills(1 broke, need work), original radiator, interior arm rest and misc trim, bumper brackets and bumpers(looks all there), 2 steering columns, Complete top frame in great shape(looks new), 2 original 1940 air cleaners for a v12, heater box, box of stock radio pieces, 2 clutch pedal assemblies, generator (w/parts), pattern visors, extra rear fender, 1 continental kit mounting bracket (nos new), 1 extra cowl vent, misc. brake lines, 2 sets original v12 wire loom housings (1 set nos).
I have not researched the body# or checked into the history of this vehicle. What influential Family or person owned this car new? I bought it from the estate of a pharmacist here in Oregon. I have quite a few more photos of the car and parts but i can only post 24, so if you have anything specific you'd like to see just let me know and ill text/email you.
I really hope someone with big skills and bigger dreams can take this beauty to the next level. You wont find a cooler car to test your skills and imagination. I would assume that not too many of the 350 hand made 1st year continentals are left to be had. Especially unrestored to do what you want. All the parts and pieces mentioned and pictured are included. Please ask questions prior to bidding. 500 dollar deposit due within 24 hours of auctions end with remainder of balance due 7 days after auctions end. Car is located in southern Oregon 97526.
