Description:
1966 Lincoln Continental
We are proud to offer for sale a rare 1966 Lincoln 4 Door Convertible VIN # 6Y86G414059, ne of a limited production run of 3180 produced in 1966. We acquired this car on September of 2013 from a lawyer in Buffalo NY. His family owned this car since the early 1990’s, nd because of a divorce between his parents the car sat untouched in his mother’s garage since then. When we received the car it was in clean rust free condition and had been repainted to a burgundy color. Originally the cars exterior color is Teakwood (Color code H) and interior is pinkish (we have all the original upholstery; it was in great condition with no rips; only flaw was the undesirable paint color). Photos of the car prior to the restoration project and as progress was made are available upon request. We have restored this car to its original condition; only a few small things have been upgraded like the brake master cylinder, C converted to R134A, ynamat added to the floor panel and rear deck lid, nd the exterior color changed to black; otherwise this car is completely original. No expense was spared to use NOS or rebuilt parts to keep the cars originality and to make sure it drives and works just like new, ust like it was in 1966. All original parts were saved and will be passed on to the new owner. This was not a frame off restoration but came very close to it. Please review all the pictures and you will observe that the engine and transmission were removed and parts around them were sand blasted and coated in either paint or POR-15 to protect the chassis and frame cross members from rust. The only sheet metal part that had to be cut off and replaced was the battery tray; for some odd reason Ford used different metal to make the trays therefore they always have to be replaced. At this time the vehicle has been driven over 1500 miles since it was put together. Each mile driven was used to make adjustments and fine tuning and to ensure the vehicle is in top running shape. We are confident to say that this car can be driven cross-country without any hesitation; we did a 350-mile day run in August with 90+ temperatures without any issues. Below we will make a list of parts and work done to the vehicle. The car is painted in Global PPG Color code C040 Schwartz the same found on Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The clear is a PPG DELTRON 4000 the car has four coats all around. The interior is done in black leather with white piping; the carpet is made by Jim Wallace of Leather Restorations in Florida the only company making an exact carpet specifically made for this car and has a the original rubber padding with the Lincoln logo like the car had when new. The top is also made by Jim Wallace and is an exact replica of the factory top with padding to hide the wires. The top is brand new but during installation and adjustment each side received a small scratch quarter of an inch long next to the chrome part on the rear of the roof. The top received all brand new weather-stripping; it took over 6 months to receive the handmade parts and the top weather stripping kit alone costs over $4K. The entire top and window electronics work like new: most of the window switches have been replaced and all new window motors installed. The rear windows roll down when you open the doors and roll up when the doors are closed. Some of the hydraulic top motors were replaced, ome were sent out to be rebuilt. Most of the rubber moldings and padding all around the car are brand new except for the two moldings around the rear doors; the car’s moldings were in great shape and they were not replaced. Over $8k has been spent just on the weather stripping. All electronics work on the car but the A track comes in very low; the auxiliary jack we added will allow you to play music from your phone or MP3 player. The AUX jack is just one of the few items we replaced or added that are not original it can be easily removed. The engine was rebuilt by Complete Engine Rebuilding in NY in December of 2014 and still includes the remainder of the warranty. The transmission was rebuilt in June of 2015 by Dolphin Transmissions of NY and has a one year warranty. We supplied a complete Fatsco rebuilt kit so everything including the valve body was replaced. The cooling system is all brand new including the radiator, xpansion tanks and all the hoses. The fuel system was completely rebuild with new filter and most of the lines replaced. The carburetor was rebuild using all original parts by J.C. Carburetor of NY, he fuel pump was rebuild by Bakers Auto in CT and the Fuel Tank by Liberty Auto In NY. The AC system has been updated to R134A: every part from the condenser, C compressor, oses, xpansion valves are brand new; the only rebuilt part is the evaporator. The rear leaf springs and the suspension were rebuilt as well using all new bushings, hocks and bolts; all parts were provided by us and the work was done by Long Life Auto Spring in NY. The front end is completely new: most parts were brand new NOS; the calipers and the control arms we rebuilt since no replacements are available. The brake system has all brand new lines, he brake booster was updated, nd a portioning valve was added to control the front disc brakes and rear drums. The power steering system has been rebuilt with all new hoses and filters. The exhaust system is Stainless Steel and is completely new with new headers. The wheels were all sandblasted and powder coated in black to match the car. The tires are Coker White walls brand new with 1500 miles on them; we added the warranty from Coker that will pass on to the new owner. The spare wheel was also repaired and sandblasted in the grey original factory color; a brand new tire for the spare wheel installed. The trunk has a brand new upholstery kit also manufactured by Jim Wallace. Most of the chrome and steel parts were sent out to S & H Chrome Refinishing in Tennessee: you have over $14K in re-chromed parts. A few pieces still need to be refinished but they are minor and hard to notice like trim that sun visors attach to and rear window frames; we have the new rear window frames as they just arrived from S & H and will pass along to the new owner. We are confident we have not mentioned even half the improvement and restoration work that was done on this vehicle; but if you have any questions about a particular part or how certain work was performed, e have documented the process and can answer any questions and address all concerns. The receipts for labor and parts add up to much more than what we are asking for the car but at this time we must let this one go… . If you plan to use a car carrier to pickup the car it must be inspected and any concerns addressed before the car leaves ourpossession, nce we hand over the keys to the car we are not responsible. The car must be paid for within 7 days after the auction ends andpickedwith 10 days after the end of auction. Please ask all questions and make inspections before bidding on the car.
