Description:
1977 Lincoln Continental Mark V
Despite decades of engineering progress, nobody has managed to duplicate the floating, effortless feeling of a true American Luxury car like this 1977 Lincoln Mark V. With a giant V8 up front, chiseled features, and a long list of features, this is as close as you're going to find to the ultimate American luxury car experience. If you were at the top of the world in 1977, THIS is what you drove. With such careful maintenance on this car, you know the bodywork is in good shape. Body gaps and fit are still just as the assembly line workers bolted it together, and the paint is as nice as 1977 technology would allow, although there are the expected signs of age. The color is elegant and sophisticated and doesn't date the car as badly as some of the other choices available in 1977, making this one a great choice for the serious collectors, and a professional buff would really make it shine once again. The original burgundy vinyl padded half-roof remains in outstanding, unblemished condition thanks to years of careful ownership, and the chrome is in great shape and there sure is a lot of it! Lenses, the hood ornament, and the rub strips along the lower flanks of the car are all in great condition. And yes, the folding headlights work properly. We see a lot of these cars, and this one is better than most. Inside, the burgundy cloth interior is the epitome of '70s fashion and luxury. Sure, it looks a little bit like Hugh Hefner's living room, but you can't argue with the preservation and amazing comfort levels. You are enveloped by a soft power driver's seat, which offers plenty of support for long-haul cruising, making this a fantastic road trip car. There are a lot of controls for all the power options, ranging from power windows and locks, to cruise control on the steering wheel, to the beautiful clock nestled into the dash. Of course, A/C and a tilt wheel are included, and the original radio is in the dash but has been supplanted by an AM/FM/CD unit underneath. Deep pile carpet and tons of sound insulation reduce wind noise to little more than a whisper and there's simply nothing else that feels like one of these '70s land barges. Even the trunk shows well, with mouse fur mats and what may be the original space saver spare tire with a complete jack assembly. Lincoln's 460 V8 won the displacement war, as Cadillac downsized to a 425 V8 in 1977. Entirely original and showing proper maintenance, the engine bay is packed with wires and hoses, all dedicated to making the big Lincoln waft along in eerie silence. The big V8 makes enough torque to give the sensation of limitless acceleration, much like an electric motor, and drives the power accessories without hesitation. Hoses, belts, and other routine maintenance items have been replaced, but for the most part it's 100% stock and original under the hood. A C6 3-speed automatic shifts almost imperceptibly, and with 2.73 gears in the 9-inch rear end, this car is as great a highway cruiser as you'd expect. It's super clean underneath, obviously coming from a southern climate, and it sits on big 235/75/15 whitewall radials and simple hubcaps for a classic Lincoln look. The world will never again see cars like this, and you'll be amazed by how well this one looks, drives and handles. Lincoln knew what it was doing when it built this car, and one drive will show you the way. Call today!Vehicle Details:
