Greetings to All!! imotors is quite pleased to offer this Gorgeous 1956 Continental Mark II Coupe. If you are here, then you probably know a lot about this special car. Yes, it was hand made in limited quantities, and cost more than a small house in 1956. Wikipedia tells us that Ford lost about $1000.00 on each one. It was the most expensive American car made until GM introduced the Eldorado Brougham. This one is a very early car, number 1142. The first production Mark II was 1001, so this is the 141st car built. Old car lovers everywhere get weak in the knees when one like this becomes available. A privately long time owned, always garaged example that was apparently treated like one of the family! Examples like this one are unheard of!

I purchased this one right out of the long time senior owners garage! He also has another one of these, along with a 1963 Convertible that live in the same house garage(He has driven Lincoln's since way way back, and currently has a new Continental).. I really liked this one because of its originality!! He tells me that when he acquired 1142, he had it stripped and repainted. He also had both bumpers re-chromed, and the engine was rebuilt. Other than this, It is basically an unrestored, original car the was "freshened" 23 years ago!!
When I acquired it, it ran but that was it! It had "Sitting issues". I completely refreshed the brakes with all new parts, to include lines and hoses. The Treadle vac also freshly rebuilt!! New seals and wheel bearings too! I installed new plugs, and valve cover gaskets, along with both heater valves and some hose. Generator was rebuilt, and oil changed with Brad-Penn that has Zinc. I have since driven it 200+ trouble free miles!! It is actually a very nice car to drive, Especially being 60 years old, and basically original.
The exterior paint was done 20+ years ago. It shows and shines very nicely, but does have some light aging, such as nicks, and a few brush touches done over the years. Chrome is really nice with re-plated bumpers 20+ years ago also. Frame and floors, including the trunk are rust free!. There is a small hole on the front side one of the frame crossmembers. I can have it fixed if you want.
The interior is tired! BUT....It is totally complete, and more works than doesn't. The Passenger front vent window is dis-connected. All other windows work fine. Passenger front has a small crack in upper right corner. The Tach is not working, all other instruments do, including the low fuel light!! The wipers are elctric, not vacuum anymore. The heater works ok. Power seat works up/down and back/forth. The Radio and dash lights are dead. I never checked into these.
All in all, a nice entry level Mark II that can be driven now, and enjoyed!! Leave as is, or make it better, That is the joy of this car, AND the hobby!!!
Contact me anytime for questions. Inspections are welcomed and encouraged. The Pa.title is clean and clear. Mileage is unknown.
