1964 Lincoln Continental
VIDEO WALKAROUND:https://youtu.be/mXCPXwN9Ny4Up for bid is a one owner, highly optioned, UNRESTORED 1964 Lincoln Continental. I acquired this car as part of an estate sale after it was discovered in an outbuilding by the owner’s surviving family. The car has 56,900 ORIGINAL miles and was last registered in 1974. Included with the car is the original warranty card and owners manual in mint condition, along with the original dealership invoice in very good condition! I knew as soon as I laid eyes on this one that I didn’t want to restore it. I felt it did the car more justice to merely freshen the mechanics, give it a good cleaning, and drive it down the road. With so many of these cars restored (some nice, others not so nice), I chose to leave this one well enough alone; and let the next owner decide what they want to do. This means what you are bidding on, though not perfect, is an honest, clean palette; no sins, no hacks, no jerry-rigging.
New Parts:
- Brake master cylinder
- Brake lines (all)
- Brake shoes (all)
- Brake cylinders (all)
- Brake hoses (all)
- Fuel lines (rubber only)
- Spark plugs
- Spark plug wires
- Distributor cap & rotor
- Starter solenoid
- Tires (all)
- Drivetrain - Engine runs smooth as silk. Transmission shifts nicely through all gears (that my in-town speeds commanded)
- Steering/Suspension - Everything feels tight and the car tracks well going down the road.
- Brakes - Stops great!
- Cooling System- Steady drips from some coolant hoses when the car warms up.
- Heating/Air - Blower motor runs in all speeds, selector seems to send vacuum to where it should go, and the A/C compressor along with the high idle switch engage when they are supposed to. I haven’t checked or attempted to charge the A/C, but it looks to be 100% intact.
- Electrics - All interior and exterior lights function, horn, radio, power antenna, door locks, even the self-winding clock! The windows work intermittently. I guess there is a master window relay in the car somewhere that the experts tell me is a common issue. The power seat motor runs from each switch, but the seat doesn’t physically move. I have not driven at night to test the auto-dimming headlights, and quite frankly, haven’t had the courage to test the cruise control, but based on the condition of everything else I trust it works.
- Body - Some rust on each rear dog leg and one front dog leg. A rust spot on the passenger door where the building had a water leak. That’s it! Zero rust on the trunk lid, hood or door structures. Doors close brand new. Paint is 53 years old with some cracking, checking and chips throughout.
- Undercarriage - Still dons the factory undercoating. Floors and trunk are beautiful. Very solid.
- Interior - All original everything. Cleaned up very nicely. No cracks in the dash or rear package tray. A couple buttons missing from the back seat. Factory floor mats and all carpeting intact in trunk area - even the spare tire cover!
Car is sold with a current VT transferrable registration and bill of sale only (VT does not issue titles for cars of this age).
Happy bidding!
