SLICK COPPER METALLIC PAINT, NICE LEATHER SEATS, BIG BLOCK 460CI POWER, NICE!
1956 Lincoln Continental
You're looking at America's Rolls-Royce. Representing the crown jewel of the post-WWII Ford Motor Company, the 1956 Continental Mark II was a hand-built car for the discerning few. Yes, it was even above Lincoln in the hierarchy, but we did list it in the name. As you read on, you'll see this extremely rare Mark II has been modified in the right places with younger Lincoln components so that it remains a rare sight, but far easier to maintain and enjoy. The right look for this custom Continental starts with the paint. These were hand-crafted luxury machines, and of the approximately 3,000 ever produced over a two-year run, each one was truly precious metal. So to have it represented today in copper just seems like the correct idea. But the shine from the modern metallic paint is only the beginning of its distinction. This is a personal luxury cruiser with an impossibly long hood because the designers wanted to make certain that everyone saw you arrive. This kind of sheetmetal needs to remain wrinkle-free so that the light highlights every crease and cascades off the paint evenly and elegantly. The same elegance rules applies to the bumpers and grille. These are intricate and unique components, so to have the full package complete and mirror-like is a must-have for a proper Mark II presentation. You might have noticed the wire wheel covers on the whitewall tires. They are far younger than the rest of this car, and an indication of what's to come.Open the door to a full custom interior. The original Continental Mark II represented the best in '50s luxury, and now this one has been given many updates to offer a more modern take on opulence. It starts with the cream-colored leather seats. The piping in both the front and rear seats nicely coordinate with the door panels and headliner for a very thoughtful appearance. This is full custom setup that includes power windows and a center console with cup holders. The dash takes the original fitting and creates a custom wooden lower section. This allows for a proper integration for more modern features such as the AM/FM/CD stereo. The driver gets an updated steering wheel and beyond that is a custom panel to house the full set of VDO gauges. The original 368 cubic inch V8 has been swapped for a 460ci big block like those found in the later Lincoln Continentals. In fact, as the largest motor to ever go into the Continental line, these are the torque kings that really know how to move around a lot of metal with ease. This is a reliable powerplant that is easily serviceable even by a shadetree mechanic. Plus, an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and Performer intake help give this a little extra kick of power without jeopardizing composure. And the perfect mix of power and poise is what this coupe is all about. The three-speed automatic transmission is quite smooth. There's an updated independent front suspension that adds to ride comfort as well as allows for front disc brakes and power steering. So while all Mark II were built to be comfortable, this one has been updated to have a superior ride. You've got the best of everything a well-presented stock exterior, a custom interior, and an updated drivetrain. So while all Continental Mark IIs are special, this one was built to be an all-around great classic, too. Call today!!!
