"For 1966, a number of changes came to the Continental model line. Although bearing a strong resemblance to its predecessor, the 1966 Continental was given new exterior sheet metal and the interior was again redesigned, featuring the new options of a tape player and a tilt steering wheel. The Continental grew in size, becoming nearly 5 inches longer, an inch wider and nearly an inch taller. Curved side glass replaced flat glass and the V8 engine was expanded from 430cuin to 462cuin .To improve the sales of the convertible, Lincoln added a glass rear window to the convertible top and improved the hydraulic system for opening the top and trunklid by adding a second pump, separating the two systems; the hydraulic solenoids were also removed from the car as well."

For sale by the long time (over 30 years) owner is this outstanding 1966 Continental convertible. This is the kind of car we love to find, a mostly original, low mileage cream puff. One look at this car and it is obvious that it has been meticulously maintained. The pictures really don't do it any justice, this is one of the few cars that actually looks better in person. Purchased in 1982 from the original owners family, it is a combination of excellent original with some cosmetic and mechanical restoration as needed. The engine and transmission were both rebuilt in the early 90's and it was repainted the original Rose Mist shortly after. In the following years it has rechromed bumpers, new carpeting, seat covers, new top, shocks, springs, brakes etc. The paint, exterior chrome and trim are excellent, as is the interior. The undercarriage is extremely solid, clean and dry and still carries the original undercoating. Nicely equipped with power steering, power front disc brakes, power windows, power door locks and power top. What follows are the details.
