Hot Rod Lincoln
1966 Lincoln Continental
This is a great driving car. It has a new battery, Fuel tank, brake lines, brake pads, wheel cylinders, light bulbs, wheel adapters and starter. Newer ball joints, shocks and all new steering components. It has 20" wheels with brand new tires (500 miles). Rear Gabriel Air shocks. Repainted with Valspar satin black two years ago and it still looks good. It had no rust on it. Last week I installed new heavy duty front springs and an outer tie rod end. I installed new axle bearings on the rear and a new fuel pump and push rod aided with an inline electric feeder pump. The motor runs perfect with its 462 Lincoln/Edsel motor that has 85k on it. This motor was made for 2 years and runs amazing and smooth. I pulled the transmission out just to inspect it to find out it was already rebuilt. While it was out I replaced the front pump seals and front pump bushing as it had a small leak. No More leaks. Shifts nice and smooth. After 1966 the DOT required all cars to be equipped with a dual reservoir master brake cylinder so while going through the brakes I upgraded it to a new dual reservoir Master Cylinder . It has new plugs, wires cap and rotor. All chrome is in good shape shape except two top trim pieces.. The interior is in original conditions and in pretty good shape. It is kind of a goldish, green but I left it original for someone else to change if they want. I like the old look inside. I disconnected the radio and hooked up an amp in the glove with a blue tooth receiver so I can stream from my phone. I vacced the AC down and it had no leaks but when I charge the systems the condenser is clogged. The evpaorator is in in good condition so you could replace everything with updated components for $750..............These cars are EXTREMELY expensive to restore and they were leaps and bounds ahead of all competition in the day with technology and when done nice they sell through classic car distributors for 20K+. I wanted this to look cool instead of like an old man car but it is a matching numbers car for a collector who may want fully restore it.. I have about 15k into this car already. What it needs- The speedo and the Gas guage do not work properly
The power seat only moves up and down not front to back.
Two window switches do not work however one is brand new and sending power. Might be a solenoid. Needs tinkering
