Up for sale is this versatile, ough as nails, x-Ministry of Defense, 986 FFR Land Rover Defender 110. Reconditioned by the military in 2005 before coming to the United States, his vehicle was completely gone through and is in excellent condition.

As a FFR (Fitted For Radio) version this Land Rover would have carried various military communication systems. To power those systems this vehicle has 12/24 volt electrics. It has a small 12 volt 45 amp alternator for running lights and basic vehicle functions, nd a large 90 amp 24 volt generator for recharging the deep cycle batteries used for the radio gear. Both the 45 amp alternator and the 90 Amp generator are in good working order. The electrical charging capabilities of this vehicle would make the addition of multiple off road lights, inches, nd other electrical devices easy to add to this vehicle.

Painted in its original “NATO Green” the body is in excellent shape and carries all its original markings. . The body exhibits none of the usual dents and dings common with these vehicles. It was obviously well cared for in its military past. It also has the highly desirable removable hard top bolted over a full roll cage for safety.

The interior is standard military issue with cloth high back front seats that are very comfortable. The rear cargo area has two long vinyl bench seats that could host 3 adults on each side. All interior lights, witches, andles and gauges work as they should and are ready to go.

The 2.5 Litre Diesel starts right up and runs flawlessly. Power to the wheels is handled by a 5 speed manual transmission which allows you to maintain highway speeds without over taxing the engine. Shifts easily out of 2 wheel and into 4 wheel drive. Tires are in excellent condition and are mounted on Wolf Wheels. This Land Rover has everything it needs to hit the mountain trails.

With the defender series no longer in production, alues on all Land Rover Defenders are on the rise. Use this Military Defender as is, odify to suite your personal taste, ither way this vehicle represents a sound investment and opportunity for serious off-road fun.
