1989 Defender 110 Overlanding setup with Alucab roof and full mechanical rebuild

1989 Land Rover Defender

This was built to cruise the Americas with confidence and comfort. I chose every detail of this build so that it had best of breed items while trying to maintain its UK heritage. Everything mechanical has been replaced with new or remanufactured except for the transfer case, which is bomber. It drives great on the highway (75-80 straight as an arrow) thanks to performance engine upgrades, air conditioning, 4 wheel puma disc brakes, a soft suspension with 6 degree caster correction as well as anti-sway bars front and rear. ( see video of 70mph at https://youtu.be/Rc0-lffv9XU )When it's time to go offroad, well it's a Defender and this one is perfectly setup for Overlanding with Alucab top and awning, 3" adjustable OME BP-51 suspension, heavy duty axles f/r, Detroit TruTrac f/r, Wildpeak AT tires, Warn 8000# winch with interior remote and much more. The comfort and safety of camping in an Alucab vehicle is unique. You'll find a 6" inflatable Exped mattress up top, a huge dual fold sleeping area, 8' standing room, inward facing seats down low, National Luna 60L fridge/freezer, LifeBlue 100ah lithium battery with bluetooth, Redarc dc to dc charger with mppt solar, two 120w portable solar panels, quilted window coverings and plenty of storage (hidden under the curbside rear seat and utilizing the spare tire carrier rack mounted to the driver side). I tried to keep this as low key as possible for a Defender, so can't see storage or water tank from the exterior and you can't see in thanks to the Limo tint in the rear. This is an Overlanding vehicle so cosmetics were secondary to function, but it is a great looking vehicle. The Grasmere Green paint color looks great, but there are some high use areas where paint is flaking. There is no rust but the front and rear doors have small areas that are corroding because of the aluminum and steel build. Below are the full specs:
