About Atlantic

The Land Rover factory original V8 90’s, especially the County SW, are becoming extremely rare and highly collectible. According to HowManyLeft.co.uk there are only 67 left driving on UK roads, with a further 52 currently SORN. So this is a very unique and exciting opportunity for someone to grab a very rare piece of Classic British Automotive history.

Atlantic has just undergone a lovely tasteful restoration; bring her back to her former glory, after she had been off the road for the previous 13 years.

She had only covered 6,000 miles since 2006 and has just flown through her most recent MOT.

Exterior

Original, eye-catching and quintessentially English

The Exterior of Atlantic is absolutely flawless, which is especially brilliant given her age. There are no dents, dings or scratches and the paint finish is beautiful. She stands well, with a good stance, thanks to new set of 5 16″ boost alloys with 235/85/r16 Continental Cross Contact tyres. The galvanised front bumper and silver alloys compliment the blue and white paint work well.

Interior Original, clean and well presented

The interior of Atlantic carries on from the tone set by the exterior. It is clean, well maintained and once again in fabulous condition for her age. Up front she has two factory original seats separated by a large cubby box. The seats have no rips or stains and the foam base is still in great shape. The dashboard and dials are well presented, don’t show any signs of sun damage, cracking or colour loss and all electronics are in good working order. The rear load area is lined with foam backed carpet which softens the seating area nicely. The rear seating area is comprised of 4 sideways facing fold away seats which are all in great condition and function well. The cabin is a very pleasant place to be and is flooded with light thanks to the factory fitted sunroof and alpine county windows.

The Structural Bits Solid and remarkably rust free

Atlantic isn’t just pretty, she is structurally solid too. The top corners of the bulkhead are solid, with no obvious sign of previous repair. The doors have been repaired and colour matched, as a result the frames are now very clean and tidy, and are in line with the quality of the rest of the vehicle. There has also been repairs to the footwells which are now solid and well presented. The chassis had quite a bit of attention during her restoration. This saw a new rear crossmember fitted, new outriggers welded on where required and a few small areas cut out and replaced. Once complete the whole underside was treated to a long lasting oil-based rust preventing coating.

The Mechanical Bits Strong, powerful, tough

The 3.5L factory original V8 is the star of the show, wow what an engine! She starts first time every time, with little to no smoke and runs very well. The Carbs have just been taken apart, reconditioned and tuned and now the engine is running beautifully. The rest of the fuel system has also had attention, a new fuel tank has been fitted along with a new fuel pump and all new engine electrics. Atlantic’s braking system has also had an overhaul, with new brake lines all round, she now stops as well as she goes. Atlantics Gear Box and Clutch are tight and smooth, as a result she shifts well between gears making her a pleasure to drive. Atlantic is now mechanically in great condition and is very much a truck fit for the 21st century.
