Description:

1992 Land Rover Defender

This 1992 Defender 110 LHD 200TDI was recently imported to the US, it is titled and registered in my name in Virginia. Overall it's in good condition, frame is excellent and rust free. VIN is SALLDHMF8JA915797. Odometer reads 265320 kms.
Windscreen is brand new from Rover North, I did get a new seal which is the correct part number but the installer insisted it would not fit and reused the old seal. The seal is included in the sale if someone wants to install it, old seal has some cracking on the outside but installer said it was still good enough to be reused. Fuse box cover is also new as well as the Defender sticker on radiator panel. New bonnet release cable was installed though it needs a 2 dollar clip to attach it to the slam panel which I had to order so I might get to that before it's delivered to the buyer, this is why the bonnet is open in pics.
Two new Bosch batteries have been installed (dual battery though 12v as the batteries are connected in series), oil, oil filter and diesel filter were changed in Italy prior to import. All other fluids like front and rear diff, transfer case and gearbox were checked here and topped off and gearbox fluid was replaced.
Has some nice off road accessories like a winch, off road bumper, steering guard, diff guards, track rod guard, trailer hitch, rear spring lift, running boards. Also has a ladder which would attach to a roof rack, 4 light guards and rear wing chequer plating which I have not installed. There are some bits for a heavy duty snorkel included but the snorkel intake grill has some damage and will need repaired or a new grill to install it (inexpensive part), also would need a bracket to attach to the air filter intake hose.
It has been repainted at some point and paint is average with flaws, has some dings and scratches etc.Paint has some aluminum contact corrosion on the door bottoms which is very common on Defenders due to dissimilar metal contact, passenger front door bottom shows signs of repair as does driver footwell but both are solid.
Interior shows some wear from age and is in decent shape though the door cards have been secured with non original fasteners installed as the clips fell out. They also have a few extra holes in them due to the fasteners. This is quite a common thing on Defenders, a whole new fastener kit is a about 3 pounds per door. Other trim and dash has some fading, wear, couple of small tears on seats, the rear seats have a few bigger ones but covers for the rear benches are about 15 pounds each. Two of the interior trim pieces around the rear windows are missing on the passenger side, these can also be purchased new or used.
Needs a few electrical fixes, interior dome light isn't working and one passenger front indicator isn't working. Rear fog lamp switch is missing so this will need to be installed and the light needs connected, about a 30 dollar item. Rear wiper was also removed at some point but wiring is still there so could be reinstalled.
Door lock cylinders are missing clips or need replaced. One spins freely, one doesn't and one pops out though it works. Driver's side 2nd row door is stuck in the locked position so that will need to be sorted, all the other doors open and close fine.
It has a good engine, starts immediately as it's a dual battery setup. Doesn't have any smoking issue aside from a little when cold or revved as is normal for any diesel.
Mechanically, there is a steering wobble/vibration at anything over quite low speeds so this will need to be fixed before it can be driven on the road. It can be driven around the lot at low speed or slowly on the road but at around 50kmph there is a vibration in the steering wheel. This could be an alignment/balancing issue as the tires are quite undersized (235/70/16s). Maybe they are too small or unbalanced. It seems to have a slight negative camber on the front wheels so that would be an alignment issue. It could be tie rod ends or the drag link which are quite cheap to replace if needed. An alignment shop could properly diagnose what it is. I think it's the tires being too small, possibly unbalanced and the alignment being off due to track rod adjustment but I am not a mechanic.
I can ship this vehicle anywhere in the US and the world upon cleared payment, due to the steering vibration issue it cannot be driven home though it can be driven on to any truck or trailer and I can load it for you. So if you plan to drive it home, I answered that question here.
This 110 is not perfect and needs a few things but it is also not being sold for 50 or 70k, please bid with confidence. I have described the vehicle as accurately as possible, it is a 26 year old unrestored vehicle so it is sold as is and it is impossible to describe every single fault/flaw in a vehicle this age. Please have realistic expectations for a vehicle this age and do your researc, thank you for looking at my auction. Vehicle sold AS IS with no warranty expressed or implied.
