Selling my 1988 Land Rover Defender 110 that I have owned for the past year. Imported from the UK into Charleston, SC and has been in Raleigh, NC ever since. North Carolina titled, plated, and insured. Head turning Defender that draws looks everywhere you go, very good looking ride.
This Defender is in great shape, and very rare with detailed MOT inspection records and service/repair records since 1993. Has been garage kept for the past year and the body is in very good condition. Was recently resprayed with a new coat of black paint. See pictures for body lines. Bulkhead is solid, which is a common area of rust. Brand new windshield gasket installed. Had a low profile safari roof rack custom built that provides lots of storing and hauling options while still being able to fit in my garage. Black body color protection plating added on top of fender and around rocker panels. Fog lights are currently not wired (wiring left in engine bay) to allow anyone to remove brush guards easily if desired. Many extras included: Side steps, tow hitch, and authentic Land Rover spare tire cover.
Brand new Pirelli Scorpion MTR mud terrain tires with less than 500 miles on them. LT265/75R16 on Land Rover Boost wheels fit the Defender very well without causing too much noise on the road.
The receipts and records on the service for this Land Rover is like nothing else. The 3.5 liter V8 engine pulls strong and is a blast to drive. I drive this truck weekly around town and on the highway. No problem going 75+ on the highway. Recently completed a beach trip and confirmed the diff lock is working properly (dashlight also works).
Recently completed $2K engine tune up at independent British repair shop. New spark plugs, distributor, rotor, fuel lines, fuel filter, exhaust manifold/gaskets, and exhaust repairs. New Bosch battery (in March). Had compression test completed in December 2017 and align with receipts that engine was rebuilt a few years ago...CYL 1)123 2)133 3)133 4)129 5)127 6)135 7)128 8)122. Only recommended repair that one would may want to do is the temperature gauge shows slightly higher than correct. Has been documented by independent mechanic that gauge is at fault. Chassis/frame are solid, see pictures. Chassis was not re-coated to hide anything.
This is the 12 seater option with sunroof and alpine windows. Seat belts for the front two rows. Seats are in very good shape. New seat belt installed on drivers seat. Momo performance steering wheel. Custom storage under driver and center seats. Exmoor Trim front floor mats. Amplified sub-woofer and flip stereo installed. All gauges are working (including the gauge lights), and the small things like the cigarette lighter also work. Vent fan and heater fan work. Heater gets warm quick, making defrosting simple.
