Description:

1984 Land Rover Defender 110 5 Door, LHD, 9 Passenger, CSW

Up for sale is my 5 door Land Rover Defender 110, 9 passenger, County Station Wagon. Some of the highlights: Left hand drive, full external roll cage with internal B-hoop roll bar, alpine white, V8 engine, with manual transmission. Other features include: leather steering wheel, rear step bumper, roof basket, high back 2nd row seats, 4 jump seats in load space area, front brush bar, smooth top roof, sun roof, alpine roof windows, MUD rear door trim, etc.

If you admire the 1993 NAS 110 but either can’t justify the cost, can’t afford one or don’t want to own a vehicle that you are afraid to take out of the garage, this may be the truck for you. This is a great running 1984 110 with approximately 165K miles. It has some dents and scratches to show that it is meant to be and has been used off-road.

Short summary of this 110: definitely awesome but not a museum piece, this is a used Land Rover. Longer description below:

Exterior: smooth top roof, sunroof, roll cage, roof basket all in good shape. Obviously from the photos: roll up glass / push button style doors (matching key locks, all locks work). This truck was not originally Alpine White, it was repainted a few years ago. It was a decent paint job but not a complete “take off” re-spray and there are imperfections. There are also dents and scratches here and there. The roll cage is an important (and expensive) safety feature since Defender roofs flatten like pancakes in the event of a roll over without one. Rear step bumper with receiver hitch is a nice feature as well.

Interior: Front seats, cubby box, carpets, mats, headliner, hard plastic interior trim, 4 rear jump seats all in good shape. Worth noting however: the headliner is wrinkled, the trim on the two outer second row seats is not great and the center seat has the “new” style Moorland fabric while the outer seats have the older style so not a perfect match. The genuine leather steering wheel makes a huge difference compared to the standard wheel options. Three point seat belts on the outer second row seats (not just lap belts). This was originally a RHD truck but was converted with all genuine LHD parts. Some galvanic corrosion / rust on the second row seat box bottom and in other common locations. As stated above, this truck was repainted and if you start taking things apart or rip out rear floor mats you will see spots that are not white. The interior overhead light, cigarette lighter, washer fluid squirter and clock are not currently working – other similar quirks should be expected. There is currently no radio; I always used a Bluetooth speaker and a phone.

Chassis: Solid but repaired in places. The rear cross member has been replaced and outriggers have been repaired. Rust preventative treated a few years ago. There are also some dents but again, overall solid with plenty of life left.

Bulkhead, footwells and doors: The bulkhead is solid. The footwells have a small amount of rust but nothing serious, completely solid. The doors are fine for now but the lower channels will need to be replaced some day. Front doors: lower channels have just a couple rust spots; Middle Row doors: lower channels have more rust than front doors and one has a weld repair; Rear door: pretty rusted lower channel but again, all are working fine. Doors also have the typical galvanic corrosion on the skins at the bottom corners.

Engine and Tranny: 3.5L Dual Carb V8 which has good even compression when recently tested. The LT95 is often referred to as the strongest transmission / transfer case ever offered in a Defender; it’s a 4 speed transmission. The starter will need to be replaced someday – it skips every once in a while. The engine and transmission have the usual Rover leaks (aka Rovers built in rust prevention system). This truck runs and drives great. However, it is not a new vehicle and some quirks should be expected. Another example of a quirk: the differential lock indicator light will sometimes come on and stay on for the first few miles of driving; it never bothered me so I never tried to figure out why (probably a loose vacuum tube or switch issue)

Please E-mail me for more info and / or photos. This truck is awesome, please come see / drive it in person if possible.
