Lancia Fulvia Coupe 1.3 Rallye Series 2 / LHD / 1973 / Repainted By Specialist & Enthusiast Owned / Superb Undercarriage & Pristine Condition @ $23,500
We are truly privileged to offer back to the market this restored & highly desirable Lancia Fulvia Coupe 1.3 Rallye Series 2 (818-630). This is a 1973 model with matching numbers, being UK tax exempt & comes fully UK registered & complete with a copy of the original Italian libretto with accompanying owners handbook. Please don't confuse this model with the later Fiat built series 3 examples which are less desirable & thus cheaper.
This stunning example of the Series 2 Fulvia was purchased by us in November 2015 direct from Padova a city in Northern Italy's Veneto region. Situated a short drive west of Venice, where it was first registered from new on 30th December 1973, so had never ventured far!
The owner Umberto & his truly impressive Fulvia have been known to us for a number of years, as we have seen it at Lancia club events & when he decided to part exchange his beloved Fulvia, we were luckily contacted directly by the dealer on the day it came in for appraisal.
The vehicle underwent a comprehensive restoration by a previous long term Italian Lancia enthusiast local owner in 2006/7 to a high UK standard.
Thus in 2006/7 it underwent a glass out full repaint including the engine bay & boot area etc in its original grigio escoli metallic silver colour. It was reported to us that the vehicle was found to be in excellent structural condition, including the floors, cills & boot floor.
In brief we are advised that the following works were conducted to a high professional standard: Complete body strip, no metal work was required. The engine was expertly rebuilt as required along with a gear box rebuild & new clutch. The two twin-choke Solex carbs were fully overhauled by a Solex specialist. The interior was fully retrimmed in the period correct blue velour that it wears today, including a new floor mat set & full boot mat. The headlining was refurbished to the original specification pattern. All lights were refurbished. Mostly all rubber items were replaced including the door seals, window & side window seals, a complete brake system overhaul including master cylinder & a new full exhaust fitted.
The bumpers & brackets were machine polished along with the wing mirror; the Lancia steel wheels were refurbished. The car was fully painted in the beautiful & original shade of grigio escoli metallic that you see today, which is very period & suits the beautiful lines of the Fulvia.
The car had stood up incredibly well indeed, a real testament to the quality of the work. The attention to detail shows in every aspect of the cars presentation including the fully detailed engine bay, boot void, along with the driving experience & has certainly paid dividends, this was never an average Fulvia!
Umberto has only used it sparingly in his ownership to attend club & family events, he has however kept the car taxed & MOTd.It retains the original matching 4 cylinder 1298cc sport engine with twin solex carbs & is showing a mileage of only circa 53,295 miles, which we are told is correct.
Umberto sold us the car showing externally minor storage scratches. (All photographed & printed for the history file). It was however rust free & in an excellent structural condition, a rear find these days even in Italy.
We were meticulous in our further preparation prior to offering this exceptional example to the market the first time in January 2016 by undertaking the following works here in our London workshop:Completed a full external glass out repaint in its original grigio escoli metallic silver colour to a very high professional show standard. We also took copious photos of the car at the various stages of preparation. (Before, during & after). As expected the vehicle was found to be in excellent structural condition, including the floor pans & boot floor which are known trouble spots. The boot floor presents very well today in its original form. In fact it looks as good underneath as it does on the top. The underside was also prepared to finish the package & treated to a coat of spray gun applied Wurth underseal to protect it going forward for the next 46 years of its life.
We stripped the vehicle & glazing with full preparation as required of the bodywork, ready for a full prime & repaint. The Lancia wheels were refinished to a high standard & new correct matching tyres fitted. We conducted a full engine service including NGK plugs, engine oil & filter, air filter, coolant change along with a full tune, just to be sure!
We also fully detailed the vehicle including a machine polish of the new glorious paintwork & fresh MOT to complete along with Italian front & rear number plate holders. Fitted a new Bosch battery, period correct decal kit, undertook a detailed interior deep clean & filled the fuel with £40 of super unleaded.
We sold this stunning vehicle on completion in January 2016 to a retired engineer that was over the moon with the car. He has in turn spent further time & money on the car as his retirement treat. In fact this car won the Lancia Club best of show & it has a picture of the car with the rather large plaque in the extensive history file.
There are a further 21 Omicron invoices in the history along with others now covering: Rebuilt Solex carbs & gaskets, Electronic ignition, HT Cable set, New wing mirror & glass, New wheel centre caps, Trim panel clips, Rear brake pads, Front clear indicator lenses, Water temperature sender switch, Radiator fan switch, Omicron rebuilt control stalks, Rear lenses, Front spring mount, Radiator cap, CV outer boot, Rocket cover gasket, Set up & tuned on a rolling road after the carbs were rebuilt on 20th May 2019, Fuel pump, Oil pressure sender& Bottom rad hose.
The car has also been UK MOTd & comes with a clean ticket with no advisories. Its on SORN & it has also just had a full service, including oil & filter, air filter, fuel filter & radiator coolant, brake fluid change & gear box fluid.
The vehicle comes with a fantastic history file & contains: UK V5C, Copy of original Italian log book, Italian Attestazlone di presentazione formallta, Parts invoices, Lancia owners handbook / manual, Fresh current UK MOT & 2 previous, UK NOVA certificate, UK Registration papers & number plate issue, V948, V11 & past V11s. Copious photos showing car in Italy on the day Umberto bought it to the dealership for appraisal & finally colour images of the full repaint & works we conducted here in our workshop in December 2015.
Period Lancia grigio escoli metallic paintwork, with a full period blue velour interior, including original door cards & rear panel cards, complemented by the original specification headlining & full black logo over mat set.
New electronic ignition.
Original keys on Lancia key ring, brace & original fully refurbished spare wheel with cover along with the original Lancia jack & boot strap etc.
Refinished Lancia steel wheels shod with new matching quality tyres, nuts & emblems.
It certainly is a genuine cherished example & looks resplendent & has an excellent panel fit, structure & undercarriage. A really superb example in my opinion.
This stunning example is great fun to drive, not to mention look at! These models are ever increasing in value & a good Fulvia is a great investment opportunity with a strong club following. Find another as well restored, with this mileage & low ownership.
The Lancia Fulvia (Tipo 818) was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963 by Lancia & produced until 1976. Fulvias are notable for their role in automobile racing history, including winning the International Rally Championship in 1972, the year of this example. On testing it in 1967, Road 7 Track summed up the Fulvia as "a precision motorcar, an engineering tour de force". Named after Fulvia Flacca Bambula, an aristocratic Roman woman and wife of Mark Antony.
The Fulvia was available in three variants:- 'Berlina' (4 door saloon) 'Coupé' and 'Sport' (an alternative fastback coupé designed and built by Zagato on the Coupé floor pan). Our cars come recommended by a leading authority on Lancia / Fiats & parts specialists Ricambio International Ltd. I actually have a light blue 1964 500D that makes up part of my own private collection & everybody loves it! It always puts a smile on my face, plus you don't need to worry about the rising petrol prices Just enjoy!
