Vehicle Details

I bought this truck in rough condition on ebay during the pandemic with a good engine and transmission. I have restored almost every part. It has a 2.5” lift by rough country that includes new shocks and leaf springs. It has a front Spartan locker in the differential . This means that in 4x4, the differential locks up and you can avoid slippage where the stock open differential will just spin if either wheel loses traction. The rear differential is open so when you are in two or four wheel drive, your two wheels can spin independently. It has the original matching alloy wheels and 5, new 33” Toyo A/T tires.

It has a new clutch master and slave cylinder. The clutch itself still feels good. I suspect it was replaced recently, and the previous owner had done a full tune up. As is common on this vehicle, the rear main seal leaks slightly. I repaired it but damaged the upper seal during install. The oil leak is very slight so i simply put cardboard under it in the garage. It doesn’t burn oil and i did not have to add oil between 3000 mile oil changes (I use conventional high mileage 10-w30 oil as synthetic oil is thought to damage seals in these engines which are legendary for reliability.

It has a two new skid plates (transmission and fuel tank), a cable operated 4wd front axle disconnect, new brake pads on all 4 corners, new front rotors and rear drums, a new sony in-dash bluetooth audio system, and new rear speakers.

Two places on the frame were rusted out and these were cut out and rewelded with new steel. I had a mechanic repair the a/c which is needed here only during summer. I repaired and replaced the heater core, water pump, battery, radiator, harmonic balancer, oil pan gasket, power steering hoses, and fan clutch. It has a new soft top. I also have a bikini top. I have the the original hard top.

Basically, everything works now. It is ready to be used, but my wife allowed me to get a new one if I agreed to sell this one. So I want this truck to go to someone who will use it to get out and fish or hunt or drive in gnarly stuff off road.

It is 30 years old and came from Connecticut, so it has rust to monitor. I have repaired all of the rust on the frame. There are two places at the back that need a little welding at some point - the two rear body mounts. The body is held to the frame with 11 additional mounts, but it is on my list of repairs.

The car could use a touch up to the exterior paint job and a little bit more repair of two rust spots and holes on the body work before painting. The interior is all original except i replaced the torn shifter boot with a custom leather one that is nice. The front driver seat could be recovered s it has a couple holes, but the seats are comfortable and original so i left them for now.

There are a few rust repairs that will be needed some day. I removed all the rusted metal, painted the strong metal with rust preventative, primer, and then paint. And i am monitoring them. It is in a pretty healthy state now where the owner will need to check the rust every year and repair as needed.

If you want a jeep to get out and use, this is a great one. It has factory anti-lock brakes, four working seatbelts, and a powerful engine that is fun to drive. Gets 19 mpg highway, 16 city.
