Description:

1972 Jeep Other

For sale: I am very proud to offer FOR SALE my 1972 Jeep J4000 4x4 Custom Cab puck-up truck. an AMC 360ci V-8 and TH400 automatic 3-speed transmission, this blue and white color combination draws attention wherever it goes. The number one comment I get is, “you just don’t see these anymore”. I would categorized this as a survivor truck, other than the Edelbrock water pump (I had replaced a couple of years ago), and a new (NOT a rebuild) Powermaster starter from BJ’s Offroad. I have paperwork that was passed over to me showing this truck (Owners number one) was owned by a couple who lived inSusanville, CA and who originally purchased it from Calvada Auto Co., Inc. in Reno, NV, in June 1972.

Owner number two purchased it through The Jeep Farm in July 2018, which is how it found its new home in Tennessee. I purchased (I’m the third owner), this truck in April 2019. This truck currently has just under 98,000 miles on the odometer. I cannot verify the exact mileage, the odometer shows just under 98,000 miles, so after seeing the truck for yourself you can be the judge. In 4-years I put on approximately 10,000 miles.

When I bought this truck in April 2019, the person I purchased it from had acquired it from The Jeep Farm, who repaired it for the first owners, and then put it up for sale for them. The following is text copy of The Jeep Farm posting is from pre-April 2019, and will give you an idea of the particulars prior to my ownership;

““1972 Jeep J4000 (Original - The Jeep Farm - Posting) The Jeep Farm, LLC is VERY proud to offer this amazing 1972Jeep J4000 Jeep pickup! It is a second owner truck, 6,000lbs gvw. 88,000 original miles. Custom cab. AMC 360 V8 and TH400 automatic. Dana 20 transfer case, Dana 60 rear with trac loc, Dana 44 front. Dual fuel tanks, 36 gallons total capacity. This truck is owned by a good customer of mine. 2 years ago I did complete floor pans, and painted the inside of the cab back to its original white. The interior still has its original seat, headliner and door panels. All the lights and gauges work, Oil and Amp lights work, including original AM radio. The original dash pad is warped and cracked. Extensive work done over the last year. Lots of new parts including a flowmaster exhaust, fuel tank,sender and lines, brake booster, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake lines,power steering pump, radiator and fan shroud, heater core, all rubber hoses and fluids. A brand new set of 31×10.50×15 BFG All Terrains are mounted on brand new white spoke rims. The tires have 1,000 miles on them. This is one Awesome original truck! The Blue portion of the truck seems to have been repainted at some point in its life. The truck came with an old camper top that had its own rear door, so as you can see in the pics, the tailgate is near new!! There are some small rust holes in the rear bed corners, and some bubbling at the front fender flare. The white exterior portions are original. There are dents and scratches in the hood, again please look at the pics. The tail lights, back up lights and turn indicators are all new. This is a RARE and largely original truck, and a rare opportunity to own it….

I am consigning this truck for a customer of mine that has a few Jeeps and are Jeep people. He and his family love this truck, and have put a lot of love into this truck. I have worked on this truck and have personally driven it. The motor is strong and trans shifts firm. The exhaust sounds great but not too loud. The suspension is firm, but that is too be expected of this generation of Jeep work horses. This is a VERY neat truck with a great color combo. The prices on early J-truck are climbing and if you have ever wished to own one…. now is the time.

I am ASKING $14,500. As you can see, there has been a lot of work done at The Jeep Farm before I purchased this sharp truck. Plus, I had the Edelbrock water pump installed, and then the Powermaster starter.

Things that need addressing;

Headlight switch needs replacing,driver and passenger doors need adjustment for easier closing (not adjusted after floor pan installed), there is a small 1-inch tear in the driver side of the bench seat, brakes need adjustment (almost go to floor), steering pulls tothe right upon braking (proportioning valve?), timing cover gasket needs replacement? (there is a coolant leak in this area of motor), minor surface rust can be seen, rust in truck bed (see picture), minor hood dents and scratches, minor surface rust, scratches & dents, has second gas tank behind bench seat (has gas in it but either bad fuel or pet-cock blocked),passenger door armrest broken (see picture), windshield wiper reservoir missing rubber plug (not sure wiper pump works?), temperature gauge intermittently works, needs all weather stripping replaced (back to being a 51 year old survivor), transmission pan leaks and will mark its’ spot. Some rust on and around/on all wheel flares(see pictures of some examples). Dash pad was missing when I purchased it. THIS ISA 51-YEAR-OLD SURVIVOR VEHICLE WHICH IS NOT IN RESTORED CONDITION.

Truck will start and drive on/off of transportation trailer.

Additional features include;

Reprint of 1972 Technical Service Manual, Edelbrock water pump, starter replaced with new (not rebuild) Powermaster, original AM radio that works, tailgate in great condition, unique steel diamond plate heavy duty rear bumper with receiver hitch, 2ndgas tank behind bench seat (has old gas, and petcock may need to be replaced), I have the 4 stock rims for it (supposedly at least one leaks), including a Uniden 40 channel C.B. Radio (older, but new in box), I have original paperwork (see picture).

Title is clear and in my name. As with vehicles of this age it is SOLD-AS-IS. Pictures are current and taken at my home, except the one with the floor pan which was installed at The Jeep Farm. Please ask questions and/or inspect before your purchase.

I am trying to be as comprehensive as possible with the truck’s condition as I can, but remember it is 51-years-old. I will answer any, and all questions. There is some rust, dings and dents, butoverall a very nice survivor. Sale is final and legally binding.
