Description:
1984 Jeep CJ
Jeep CJ8 Scrambler.Re-powered in 2018, If it is a moving part anywhere on vehicle it has been replaced/upgraded.Engine - Ford 5.0 using stock Ford EFI including OBD1 port for code read/programming. Bored .030 over with forged flat top pistons, full roller valve train, trick flow heads, GT40 intakes with 1" spacer, 65MM throttle body (air filter shield not installed in pictures). MSD ignition, 8.5mm spiralcore wires, Autolite copper plugs. In tank fuel pump with Holley external filter on rear frame cross member. Pacesetter headers, 2.5" exhaust, H-pipe for balance with Dynomax turbo mufflers all assembled with not very pretty but solid welds and stainless band clamps with no leaks. The AC compressor is still installed in engine accessories, the ports are sealed. But the system is not wired in and has no supporting parts (condenser, evaporator, drier, etc).Transmission - New when installed NV3550 - 5 speed with Centerforce II dual friction pressure plate/clutch. Core/Hurst shifter and JB Fab. twin sticks on the fully reworked Dana 300 transfer case. New Carolina Driveline drive shafts front/rear with double cardon rear shaft for 0 vibration.
Axles - Rear is stock AMC20 with a detroit locker, 4.56 gears, Moser one piece axle kit, all new brakes with axle tubes welded to differential. Front is stock Dana 30 with Detroit Tru-trac, 4.56 gears, upgraded axle shafts with all new bearings, brakes, ball joints, rod ends, etc... Rebuilt stock steering box with frame brace added, Borgeson steering shaft for 0 play. New brake booster, master, steering column bearings, etc.. Jeep rides on 35 x 12.5 BFG muds with American Racing Ansen Offroad wheels, all 5 match. SkyJacker softride 4" lift springs with Currie shackles and MORE offroad shackle hangers.
Body - In very good but not perfect shape. As you can see above, I built this to drive and offroad and didn't see the point in perfect paint to bang through rocks, trees and mud. All rust was cut out and replaced in structural areas, conversion treated and sealed in others. In pictures you can see dent in hood, some paint scratches on right front fender, and the spare tire carrier dent in lower rear panel from stock spare tire carrier being bumped at some point. The only non-original part on body is the 1992 Wrangler windshield frame. Otherwise the body is undamaged and all original steel, no filler anywhere on body, and still has original fender flares. Exterior is painted with TCP single stage urethane and has Phoenix decal set installed.
Top - Bestop supertop that is at least 11 years old. Jeep is stored inside and sees low miles per year so top is in good condition, and tight from rain/snow. But does show slight wear at corners, zippers, etc (ask for pictures). I have the soft doors pictured that match top, and I have the original hard doors that are painted to match the body (not pictured, but included in sale).
Bumpers - Front is stock CJ with ends cut, bolt on push bar added and painted. Period correct Maxtor spotlights operate from factory switch. Rear is Warn bumper for CJ with spare tire carrier.
Interior - Aftermarket dashpad with Jeep logo added from the original. Urethane grip, stock size, 3 spoke steering wheel with original laredo horn button. Original Laredo wheel not pictured but included with sale. Corbeau seats front and back wrapped with black vinyl edges with grey fabric inserts. Both front seats are on tilt forward seat bases. Rear seat fold/tumble up to front seats. Smittybuilt security center console with armrest includes the Kenwood bluetooth, digital radio that runs through 50A/channel Acoustic amp and 4 (ok but not awesome) speakers. Stock roll bar, new tailgate gasket, stock tailgate latches. All gauges, lights, switches, warning lamps, etc.. work, including the added Check Engine for the Ford OBD system. This Jeep has intermittent wipers and cruise control that all work. The interior was sprayed with Raptorliner by the PO, done reasonably well and is in good shape. Rugged ridge heavy duty front mats help control floor heat up front.
Overall - I have tried to describe accurately above, warts and all. This is a really solid, but not show-level Jeep. This is one of many toys built over the years, but I have kept it the longest of any others. I use top quality parts for reliability and believe neatness and simplicity count when modifying things. This Jeep has plenty of power, is super capable offroad and then ride home with cruise control. I have owned this Jeep about 10 years and it has been a family project and toy. But kids are big enough now so they want to drive an ATV instead of riding in the Jeep, so it is time to move it along.I have all receipts, part numbers, books and full wiring diagrams for all systems as assembled for ease of maintenance, repair or modification - all included with sale.
Terms - There is a reserve, I will not tell you what it is. No warranty expressed or implied from owner on Jeep. Will need $1000 deposit at close of auction and I am glad to work with you on delivery that bid winner sets up and pays for. If you have questions contact me I am glad to answer, discuss or send pictures or videos of vehicle as requested.Good Luck!
