This particular example is chock full of new parts and fresh restoration to ensure it lives well into the 21st Century.Made in Jeep's Toledo, Ohio factory, this example is finished in Black with silver Renegade trim. The paint is lustrous and in overall excellent order. The fold-down windshield is clear and intact, the lights are in very good order and the body is straight and solid. The engine bay is clean and the battery appears new. The cargo area is good order and there are new, black tube front and rear bumpers, with only a slight blemish on the back one. There's an all-new, black Bestop Supertop soft top, a Bimini top and two-piece doors. This Jeep rides on BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A Baja Champion tires, size LT305/70R16. Each tire is mounted on a Mickey Thompson Classic III vented alloy wheel. The tires have full tread and are in very good order while the wheels are in excellent shape. There's a full-size spare tire and wheel on the cargo door.Under that hood that can flip back onto the windshield and roof, there's the original 304 CID V-8 engine (VIN code H) that has been professionally remanufactured by Jasper Engines with only 2,000 miles. This engine breathes via dual, side-mounted exhaust and has the following new parts: a Holley carburetor, ceramic headers, Edelbrock air cleaner and valve covers; flywheel; performance distributor; chrome alternator; triple-core aluminum radiator; all-new and complete wiring harness; fuel tank, lines and spark plugs.Backing this motor is a three-speed manual transmission (VIN code F) with a 3.55:1 differential, a new and custom Dana 44 rear axle. Jeeps of this era also had a Dana 20 two-speed transfer case and a Dana 30 front axle (27- or 31-spline). Driver convenience features include power steering and power brakes.Inside, the Jeep has an all-new, black Bestop front sports buckets and rear bench seat, with matching floor mats. The mats are in very good order, the original three-spoke steering wheel is ready for action, the black, metal instrument panel looks flawless and comes with a full array of gauges, include a new Speedhut GPS-based speedometer. The center console as a deep storage well beneath a padded lid and the original shift lever and transfer case levers are in good, original order. The wipers are inoperable and the horn is functional but needs to be wired to the pad button. Completing the interior is a factory AM radio and a grab bar for the front passenger. The Jeep CJ-7 featured a wheelbase 10 inches longer than that of the CJ-5, with its curved side entry cutouts partially squared up to accommodate hinged doors. The other main difference between CJ-5 and CJ-7 was to the chassis, which consisted of two parallel longitudinal main c-section rails. To help improve vehicle handling and stability, the rear section of the chassis stepped out to allow the springs and shock absorbers to be mounted closer to the outside of the body.Transmission options included the standard part-time two-speed transfer case, automatic, and an optional new automatic all-wheel drive system called Quadra-Trac. Other features included an optional molded hardtop, and steel doors. The CJ-7 was also available in Renegade and Laredo models. The reports of the CJ-7 were different in each type of engine: the 145 CID Isuzu diesel four-cylinder was mated to the 4.10 ratio axle (in both Renegade and Laredo), while the 258 CID straight six and 150 CID AMC four-cylinder used 3.73 and AMC 304 CID V-8 models (produced 1976-1981, which became part of the Golden Eagle version) used the 3.55 ratio axles. From 1976 to 1980, the CJ-7 came equipped with a Dana 20 transfer case, Dana 30 front axle (27- or 31-spline), and a 29-spline AMC 20 rear axle. The CJ-7 continues to be used in the sport of mud racing, with either the stock body or a fiberglass replica. CJ-7 has been successfully and widely used as a favorite for rock crawling, through simple and complex modification.Competition to this CJ-7 in 1978 included Chevrolet's K5 Blazer, Dodge's Ramcharger, Ford's Bronco, GMC's K5 Jimmy, International's Scout II, Plymouth's Trailduster and Toyota's Land Cruiser.Whether you're a Jeep fan, a truck and off-road collector, you owe it to yourself to stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars today to view this refreshed CJ-7 for yourself.VIN: J8F93AH088792This Jeep is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri.
