1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer - 3 owner, rust free Central California survivor
1986 Jeep Wagoneer Grand Wagoneer
Up for auction AT NO RESERVE is my 3 Owner 1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. This original Grand Wagoneer has spent its entire life in the high desert of Central California, is in very nice original shape and ready for cruise night, Saturday coffee or service at the vacation home.
On February 24, 1988 Mr. Thomas Borsari purchased the Grand Wagoneer from Lancaster Jeep-Eagle in Lancaster, California where the original owner had traded it in.Tom lived in the mountains above Lancaster outside the historical mountain town of Glenville. For the 20 + years Tom used the Grand Wagoneer to commute from the mountain community to the city.
Tom was an attorney and known by all in the small mountain community as the "Cowboy Attorneyâ€.For years Tom traveled from the mountains to Lancaster our Bakersfield in the Jeep racking up 193,000 miles.Despite the miles and the age, Tom continued to care for and drive the Jeep. Its condition today is a reflection of that.
Once retired Tom tucked the Jeep away in the garage but never forgot about it.He would religiously go out and start it up just to keep it lubricated and ready to go.
In early 2018 I had the opportunity to purchase the Grand Wagoneer from Tom's estate.A friend contacted me about the Jeep and it peaked my interest. So early one Saturday morning I headed up to take a look and was impressed at what I saw. There sitting outside the garage was this dusty, original, rust free Spinnaker Blue Metallic 1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. It was unmolested, the interior was not tattered like most and it was in great shape.I had to have it!
Unfortunately, I am relocating to Colorado and having to scale down my collection and the Grand Wagoneer is one of 10 vehicles that I will be selling. If you are in the market for an original, unmolested iconic Jeep Grand Wagoneer look no further!
The interior on this rig is clean original and well sorted.Carpet does have some light wear but is still in nice shape for being 33 years old. The leather seats are original and not tattered or torn. The driver's seat does have some light cracking typical of leather interior and the passenger's seat has two locations where leather cracks (about 3" long each) are all the way thru..The door panels are in great as are the visors.Headliner is new and dash is uncracked. The padded steering wheel is a little worn and due for replacement. And as a bonus, the original floor mats are included with the Jeep. All in all the interior is in great shape and ready to enjoy!
As for the body, paint and trim, all are driver quality. The Jeep was repainted sometime during its life looks great from 20' but up close you will definitely notice imperfections which include some clear coat peeling on the passengers door and fender, light chips, scratches and door dings..It is fine for Saturday coffee and the trips to Lowes but is not ready for the car show circuit!Doors close nicely, the body lines are straight and there are no major dings, bumps or bruises (there is one small dent behind the passenger's side rear wheel just under where the bumper wraps around the body.As far as rust, this Wagoneer has ZERO!
Like all Grand Wagoneers this rig is loaded with air, clock, cruise, tilt, PW/PDL/PS, lighted passenger's visor, after market AM/FM/cass., driving lights, power mirrors, PS and PB, rear window defrost and power rear window. With the the exception of the power mirrors, clock, cruise and A/C all Electrical, instrumentation and accessories are in working order. All parts are in place for the A/C and cruise I have just not attempted to get either operational. Drivers seat moves back and forth fine and up and down at the rear of the seat but the front up and down adjustment is not working. The passengers seat works on all adjustments but needs assistance when moving back.
Mechanically, the Jeep is solid and really is a joy to drive! No drips slobbers or awful noises. The transmission shifts smoothly, electronic 4x4 works properly and dropping into 4 low is no problem. The 360 runs great with no noises, misses or annoying hesitations. Recent work includes a service, full tune-up and carb rebuild.Tires are good with plenty of tread and are ready to go!
Included is Mr. Borsari's sales papers from Lancaster Jeep-Eagle and the original pink slip!.
If you are in search of that ultimate ski rig for those winter adventures to Stowe, Mammoth, Vail or Jackson Hole or just want the perfect surf wagon for those sunny days in Santa Cruz, Santa Monica, Hilton Head or The Hamptons this iconic Jeep Grand Wagoneer is the ultimate rig for you!
