1984 Jeep CJ 7
Why do some Jeep CJs spend their whole life on the road? Well, for one thing, they offer the driver great visibility in traffic. They are also very maneuverable in tight quarters like you find downtown, are simple, and reliable, and the list goes on. And, contrary to popular perceptions, when they are like this particular CJ7, with tight steering gear and the alignment right, they drive great on the highway too. Check out this CJ7. It drives great on the road but accomplishes that without sacrificing its off-road prowess along the way.
Olympic White paint shines bright and looks great contrasting with black stripes and Renegade script on the hood. Everybody knows what the front of a CJ looks like, but the chrome grill and bumper leading the way on this one adds some sparkle to that iconic grill. Out back, the spare tire is mounted on a swing away carrier with a vinyl cover so it doesn't take up interior room. Black fender lips reach out to cover the 33X12.50 BFG tires mounted on American Racing wheels. When the weather is nice, Top off motoring is fun and you can enjoy the classic Jeep look with the roll bar or even fold the windshield down if you like. But for everyday driving, when a bit of protection from the elements is called for, there is a soft top and removable doors that are all in really nice condition.
Open the door, (if it's on there), and step inside. You will find some really sharp, two-tone seat covers with the Jeep logo stitched in that are a nice neoprene like material. There is a four spoke Grant GT steering wheel that feels good in your hands mounted on a tilt column so you can adjust it to your preference. There is a big 'ol lockable center console with lots of room in it which has cup holders for both front and back seat passengers. The dash layout is as simple as it gets with a few plainly labeled switches along with the speedo and a couple basic engine gauges in the center. For your listening pleasure, there is a Sony head unit that is iPod compatible mounted in the dash with the amp and speaker box hiding between the back seat and the tailgate. There is a shifter for the manual transmission along with a lever for the 4-WD and nice gray carpets along with rubber floor mats line the floor.
Under the hood is the tried and true, powerful and reliable 258 cubic inch in-line 6-cylinder engine. A Weber two-barrel carburetor handles the fuel mixing duties and the engine runs super smooth. There is a newer master cylinder and brake booster working the front wheel disc and rear drum brakes. The jack for changing a flat is under the hood tucked in behind the fender well just in front of the battery. Solid axles front and rear with leaf springs are simple and reliable too. Of course, this is still a 4WD Jeep, so there are BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/As which provide a little more ground clearance and have great traction in the snow as well as on grassy slopes. You want to make sure you can get to work no matter what the weather is, or, make sure you can get down to the bon fire near the creek so you can crank up that Sony stereo for some tunes!
This is probably the best driving Jeep on the road you will find. And it does that without losing its off-road capabilities. Come on down and check it out.
