Description:
1972 Jeep CJ
1972 JEEP CJ5 Owned and built by Don Ferguson, who is known in the Jeep and off roadcommunity.I owned the Jeep for 4 years. I bought it with a lower end knock and had plans of repairing the engine and using the jeep but Ihaven'thad the free time or money. Currently runs but has a lower end knock, not on idle yet when you rev it up or drive it. Jeep has not been driven with knock, only into the garage once. The body has its dents and bruises as you can tell from the pictures but no major rust issues. Solid floors with just one spot on the drivers side fender below the hood. A few small spots that can be covered with a finger. The interior is rough and could use new upholstery. Jeep has Dana 44 Front and Rear axles with manual Locker and manual locking hubs. Split Transfer case. On boardAir and Link-Arc Welder, Willwood Clutch Master cylinder. Husky Super winch mounted on front. Clifford Performance Valve Cover and Intake, Edlebrock Carb.
This is a project Jeep and not ready to drive home. I Can deliver within 200 miles of 93505 for $200. San Diegois 200 miles South and Fresno is 200 miles North from me. I can help arrange shipping but buyer is responsible for paying shipping.
Clean California Title in hand
I found a Vehicle log from the 1980's in the glove box and contacted the person who wrote it. She was the ex wife of Don who built the jeep. I included it to give some history on him and the jeep.
"The jeep was bone stock when we bought it. After driving the Rubicon and going up Surprise Canyon, we eventually added power steering. We put the split shifter in it too. ( We joined Antelope Valley Four Wheelers in 1974, then resigned from that club and joined High Desert Four Wheelers in 1981. I am still a member of that club). We stayed with the stock jeep for a long long time. Don went to Moab when he worked for the magazines and did the trails with all the "test" vehicles when they were doing the 'Four Wheeler of the Year' vehicle comparisons. Our jeep was still stock. I'm not sure about the axles. ( I know on my '76 Blazer we put a Detroit locker in the rear and an ARB in the front. It had a Dana 60 in the rear and a Dana 44 in the front. We also had a Centerforce clutch. ). The jeep was his baby and the Blazer was mine.
Don worked at Off Road Magazine for several years doing projects and project vehicles and lots of tire tests. 'Beauty and the Beast' was one of those projects. We built a Willys wagon for the Editor's son - that was the 'Beauty'. The 'Beast' part was to be a Willy pickup but that never got finished. After the 'Beauty' was done, the son just didn't work with us on the pickup. Don also worked for Four Wheeler Magazine for several years doing product testing, . Then he worked at Motor Home Magazine for several years also doing product testing."
