Description:
1987 Jeep Cherokee
This is a 1987 2 Door Jeep Cherokee that we are the second owners of. We have owned the Jeep for about ten years and have done a lot of work to keep this rust free rare little jewel going. We purchased the jeep from the original owner where he had left it sitting for close to seven years at his buisness. He simply parked it after purchasing a new one. The original owner lived in Florida and most of its early miles were highway miles driving from Florida to Alabama for work. When we found the vehicle we did a compression test on all the cylinders and all checked good. Prior to even starting the vehicle we installed a new gas tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, filter, and fuel regulator and installed better updated Bosch fuel injectors. Flushed all the fluids added Royal Purple oil changed all belts and hoses even put on a new crank pulley since they have a rubber backing for balancing and quickly the little 4.0 came to life. I now know why people are such big fans of these motors. They create an amazing amount of torque and are very responsive. After getting it running we addressed stopping. This little Jeep has all new brakes and by that I mean new booster, master cylinder rotors and pads. We put a set of Goodyear Wrangler tires on the original aluminum wheels and those tires have at least 50 percent of tread left. The headliner was sagging like all cars made in the 80's so we removed the windshield took out the headliner removed all the old cloth beefed up the headliner board with fiberglass, installed new cloth and put in a new windshield. The original visors had been baked by the sun and being made of cardboard the best option was to just remake new ones out of aluminum. Liked the way they looked without cloth so we clear coated the aluminum. We have extra headliner cloth so if you want to cover them you can. As you can see the original dash in is very good shape with no cracks. The rear seats have hardly been used there are some torn places on the front seat edge which is common. One can get seat covers from many places depending on what look you want and how much you are willing to spend. The original color of the jeep was red and had been paint from the factory in the days before clear coat and had turn into a faded almost purple color. To keep the body preserved it needed painting and my dad chose the metallic blue you see now. We still have the original grill and hubcaps that came on the vehicle and are included in the sale.As you can see we have been good stewards to our little Jeep and I am sure I am missing other things we have done like I said we have had her awhile. If you have any questions please feel free to ask or if you would like more pics I will gladly add them.Vehicle Details:
